This one is very interesting. So Dustie Meads posts on Namepros that's her first name, Dustie.com sold for $450 on GoDaddy. She said she had the name listed for $20,000 for many years, not $450. The ironic part about posting on Namepros resulted in seeing that another member Maxtra was the buyer of the name. They had it listed in their sig line and they were being called out as to what … [Read more...]
Joseph Peterson leaving Epik
Joseph Peterson has left Epik, he will stay on while the company transitions. Joseph started posting a few weeks back in what has become a very heated and contentious thread on Namepros. He wrote on Namepros: During a transitional period, I’m staying on to finish tasks, ensure ongoing projects remain ongoing, and train my replacements. Thousands of Epik customers deserve continuity and … [Read more...]
Will all marketplaces have to become licensed escrow agents?
In a thread on Namepros about Rob Monster and Epik, Joseph Peterson posted an interesting tidbit, one that if it plays out as Joseph speculates it could, will affect all the big players in the domain aftermarket space and domain investors as well. The history starts on another thread, it's very long and you can read it at your leisure if you desire. The short version was a thread that was … [Read more...]
Undeveloped.com decides to step up and help domainer
I wrote a post a couple days ago about a complicated situation that took place across multiple platforms. Two 5N.coms were purchased on GoDaddy auctions in early September, that person actually used a credit card that was no good. That person sold the names to a Namepros member for $550, on Undeveloped. $190 less than they won the names at GoDaddy.T That member then sold those names for $700 to … [Read more...]
Is .co starting to hold back mediocre domain names?
Holding back and reserving what one would consider "premium" names is nothing new in domaining. Verisign has taken back drops on premium .tv domains many a time. Certain new gtld registries have done the same. There is usually not a desire to hold back average or what some might even consider below average names. I was reading a post on Namepros and a member (Crysis) uncovered a bunch of .co … [Read more...]
Some new domainers feel they know more than the veterans
It's no surprise to anyone following the blog space that Rick Schwartz has been hitting the new gtld's pretty hard lately, One of many examples includes: Rick wrote: Most products may have 1 or 2 weak points. GTLD's have 122 weak points! They sold you a bag of shit and you ate it like Filet Mignon! That's the ugly truth, deal with it! GTLD's took a thriving industry and derailed it. Did not … [Read more...]
Have you dropped all your domains?
So a year ago Rick Schwartz tweeted out that 90% of all domain investors should start over. 90% of every domainer should drop ALL their #Domains and start again! They are so far off the path that it is sad to see. #gtld#Startups — Rick Schwartz (@DomainKing) May 16, 2017 The thread here got a lot of comments, some touched upon the topic of a post I wrote last week. "Are old school domainers … [Read more...]
