DomainEasy launched their domain sales platform in 2024. Sam Dennis the founder of DomainEasy took some time to answer a few questions in the interview below. Feel free to ask any questions and Sam will be sure to answer them here in the comment section. I hope you enjoy the interview.
Q1) Tell our readers a little about your background, what drew you to domain names?
I’ve been in the domain industry for over 20 years, but domains were initially a secondary focus for me. My career primarily revolved around online advertising, working with brand advertisers and affiliate marketers. Domains became a natural extension of that work—an opportunity to invest in and trade digital real estate.
Over time, I developed a passion for the domain space. Domains are unique because they’re both a commodity and a highly personal asset for businesses and individuals. They’re critical to brand identity and often the first interaction someone has with a business online. That intersection of creativity, business strategy, and technology is what drew me in and has kept me engaged for two decades.
Q2) What is the biggest challenge domain investors face in your opinion?
The biggest challenge domain investors face is inefficiency. Selling domains isn’t as seamless as it should be. There are too many fragmented tools, platforms, and processes, which makes managing inquiries, setting pricing, and closing deals unnecessarily complicated.
Another challenge is limited liquidity. Domains are valuable assets, but most investors only sell a small percentage of their portfolio annually. Many lack access to the right tools, data, or buyer networks to maximize their sales potential. The industry needs better platforms that make it easier to buy and sell domains while providing actionable insights to help investors make informed decisions.
Q3) With so many options out there already, what made you decide to launch DomainEasy?
DomainEasy was created to solve a personal problem. For years, I relied on DomainNameSales to manage my portfolio. When the platform shut down, it left a massive gap in the market. Other options existed, but none offered the flexibility, usability, or features that serious domain investors needed. Many platforms felt outdated or overly complicated, and none were designed with a tech-forward approach.
Rather than settling for an imperfect solution, I decided to build one. DomainEasy is the result of over a year of collaboration with domain investors and industry experts. It’s designed to be intuitive, modern, and powerful—a platform that doesn’t just replicate what came before but innovates beyond it. Our goal is to provide domain investors with the tools they need to succeed, from advanced domain portfolio tooling, to smart AI driven lead management systems, to customizable landing pages and seamless integrations.
Q4) Why should a domain investor choose DomainEasy over all the other choices out there?
DomainEasy is built by domain investors, for domain investors. We understand the frustrations of managing a portfolio and closing deals because we’ve lived it. Here’s what sets us apart:
- Flexibility: Our platform is designed to adapt to your needs, whether you’re a solo investor or running a large brokerage.
- Modern Tech: We prioritize usability and functionality, making it easy to manage leads, customize landing pages, and track performance.
- Cost-Effectiveness: We’re starting with 0% commission, so you can maximize your profits without hidden fees.
- Innovation: We’re continuously building and iterating. From advanced tooling to adjust your portfolio within seconds, to a flexible inbound lead management system powered by AI, we’re here to simplify and improve your workflow.
Our customizable landing pages, advanced lead management tools, and data-driven insights help investors engage buyers effectively and close deals faster. With bulk tools for managing large portfolios and features like BIN + Contact Owner templates, we enable investors to scale efficiently.
Beyond features, we’re driven by outcomes: helping investors increase sales conversions, optimize their portfolios, and improve sell-through rates. At DomainEasy, we’re a tech-forward solution built to give domain investors the edge they need in a competitive market.
Q5) You are starting out charging 0% except for 3.5% for credit card costs and $50 for wire transfers. When will you start charging a commission?
We’re committed to keeping DomainEasy free for the first year as we continue building trust and refining our features. After that, we’ll introduce a low commission rate—likely around 9%—to maintain affordability while supporting the platform’s growth and operations. Our goal is to deliver exceptional value, so whatever rate we introduce will be competitive and provide a clear ROI for our users.
Q6) Do you envision DomainEasy branching out and starting a registrar or brokerage service or any other potential service?
While our current focus is on creating the best domain sales platform, we’re also working on additional services to provide even more value to our users. For instance, we’re developing Acquire, a service aimed at helping investors and businesses seamlessly purchase domains, including broker-assisted acquisitions for high-value or hard-to-secure names. Similarly, Discover will help buyers identify domain opportunities through curated recommendations and advanced search tools powered by AI.
Beyond that, we’re exploring other natural extensions, like leasing and financing options, which would open up more liquidity for domain owners. We’re also looking into blockchain technologies to tokenize domain ownership and trading, enabling new opportunities for investors. The ultimate goal is to create a comprehensive ecosystem where domain investors can buy, sell, and manage their portfolios effortlessly—all in one place.
