Namecheap has had a lot of buzz building for their new Spaceship platform. In a blog post today they wrote, Right now we’re in the beta phase, but we still took the decision to launch the website early to test it in the most challenging place of all: the real world. That means we’re still working on making sure everything runs right.
It looks like there will be a lot of features for the new site including:
More features ready to go
Take a look at some of the other core features we’ve worked on to give you the extra control, simplicity, and flexibility you need.

- Launchpad – your fully-featured dashboard for easily viewing and managing all of your product and service apps, with the freedom to choose and customize as you like.
- Connection Manager – your way to see and manage the connections between your products and domains, with nodes across the world that constantly monitor everything.
- Subscription Management – your all-in place to manage and upgrade your products, making it easy to cancel or even pause your subscriptions.
- Notification Center – your simple and organized comms area making sure you are always kept informed, allowing full customization to receive only what you want.

I’ve been using Spaceship for a while (months) and I’m surprised that it’s mentioned they are launching this month. Also surprised that they are connected to NameCheap.
I have 70 domains with them so far and have been slowly moving names over. Here’s why… they are cheap! I think .coms have been $8.06 although I believe that will change after the industry raise that’s coming in September.
Spaceship’s interface and navigation is different. You might love it or hate it. I had an issue finding how to transfer in 23 domains today in bulk. I couldn’t find the option under the “Launchpad > Transfer Manager” option which seemed to hang, so I googled Spaceship domain bulk transfer and found the page.
I really am a budget domainer, always looking for the cheapest registration/renewal/transfer and my normal goto for most names is domaincostclub.com (paying the membership fee, and wiring money to save more) but occasionally other registrars are cheaper. Currently that’s Spaceship for most names.
Anyways, that’s my two cents. If you have a lot of names=, especially .coms, that need renewing, consider a transfer to Spaceship before the price hike.
