RideTheDucksofSeattle.com over $3,500 at auction – Here’s why

July 21, 2020 by Raymond Hackney

RideTheDucksofSeattle.com

Sometimes you a domain name climbing up the charts at GoDaddy auctions. Tonight I saw RideTheDucksofSeattle.com up over $3,500.

The auction closes tomorrow. It turns out this is the website of a Seattle tour company that had to close due to Covid-19 according to an employee comment here. A reader updated me on the real reason.

They didn’t close because of Covid. One of the vehicles the company operated was involved in an accident on Aurora Bridge that killed 5 people and injured more than 60. The company even cites the accident as the main reason for their closure.

In 1997, Ride the Ducks of Seattle opened with a Duck and a dream: to provide the ultimate experience in Seattle by land and water. What started with a small group of dedicated individuals, striving for excellence in entertainment and customer service, has grown into one of the largest tour companies in Seattle and one of the most successful amphibious tour companies in the world!

Majestic.com shows Trust flow of 30 and Citation flow of 37.

Glassdoor reviews of what employees thought of the company.

Yelp reviews of what customers thought of the company.

Auction listing

Will be interesting to see if a new tour company opens on the site, I can’t imagine a domain investor reselling it for big profit.
