Over the last few years we have published a series The good, the bad and the ugly. Readers have been able to leave their feedback and some companies have reached out over the years and let me know they took the posts to heart.
This year I want to try to change it up a bit and, What they do right and what they do wrong. Focusing in a little deeper to give better feedback to industry participants.
When posting what they do wrong, please give your suggestions on how they could improve upon what they are doing wrong.
Do not take ad hominem or personal cheap shots. Speak about the company and give some background on how long you have been a customer.
Do not use the post as an opportunity to promote your company or a competitor.
Today we focus on Sedo, What do they do right and what do they do wrong?
Other Right/Wrong posts.

Hi all
My first account opened 2013 with sedo
Some of domain sales and parking revenue good and done Sedo at the time.
But 2018 to 2020 very bad customer service and dealing Sedo, i face many problem with Sedo and i opened an article at Namepros about the Sedo low quality customer care, i sold 3 domains each $20 and at the time set my payout as Paypal but Sedo’s carelessly and send to my Bank account (before i set my bank details on Sedo) i got total $0.04 for $40 for two domains sales, i got each $0.02 and I don’t receive any payment for another domain sale, when i ask to Sedo customer care they told proper reply, I contact many time to Sedo but same reply. after I checked with my statement and online banking i see only two $.02 payment. and contacted to bank they told to me my account got only two payment (0.02×2). When i told to Sedo they are not reply to me.
My domain sales very small but the customer care not based on Money value.
My domain sale $20 but bank fee $17.98 + Sedo Commission $2 + my 0.02
Sedo don’t care customer after the deductions of Commission and They don’t give any Advice or suggestion to Customer.
Also Bank fee very high comparing to others Platform like Dan/ Afternic

Funny you should ask…
I have use Sedo for years, they were once very relevant, times have changed.
In the last 12 months I had a domain buyer fail to pay for a domain they bid on. Sedo have completely failed to take onboard any of the steps I suggested such as making bids subject to a 10% deposit of the buy price that is non returnable if the buyer fails to complete. Sedo more of less could not care less. I have had non payers before and these days I hammer them. This clown worked in a hospital in a rather less credible African country, so I reported his non payment fun and games to his organisation to name and shame and caused him to reconsider that if you play games with the wrong people they might stamp on you very hard.
The next Sedo moment was them “banning” a domain in the CV19 narrative. This was totally over the top. So, if the hidden hand of censorship is at work Sedo are wide awake, in the case of dubious domain buyers they do nothing.
Sedo are business of the past. I would love to see someone build a blockchain platform and also bring in Bitcoin Cash BCH for transactions. Sedo are legacy and they will not get much business from me.
It’s companies like Sedo that put me off domaining. Back up the sellers and please, do not try to be the censorship squad. We can all see through whats going on in the CV19 era, we know there is a bigger agenda and the Rothschild lapdogs are nodding away. I suggest Sedo get on with improving the platform for trade. This is not the Soviet Union 😉

I have used Sedo since 2006 and, generally speaking, have had a positive experience although, like many other domain traders/brokers, their customer service has declined over the years.
Administratively, I have had issues with them holding onto my money a little too long and have had to remind them that the domain I sold thru them has been in possession of the buyer for a couple days already! Just be more vigilant.
I have had a couple issues with them not honoring some of the sales prices they advertise for promoting domains. My issues were resolved but they no longer seem to offer such discounted pricing.
Thirdly, I often question their decisions to include certain names in their Great Domains and Keyword auctions. It seems as if the people making the decisions of inclusion are not that familiar with the English language and its nuances (yes, I know they’re a German company with offices in Boston). I see typos included and they broke their own rule on the Keyword auction by including names other than dotcoms, despite only accepting dotcoms from us. Stick to your own rules!
Fairly minor things overall but sometimes It’s the ‘little things’ that make a difference… Just take care of the details!

Sedo has a broad international reach, and thus is able sometimes to assist sales between parties who couldn’t manage to set up a financial transaction when their countries’ banking systems don’t interact, so wire transfers and the main wallet/processors won’t work.

I bought some domains on Sedo auction, but when ever i try to submit the same domains on Sedo subsequent auctions sedo will not approve the domains, can you imaging that? honestly i see them like dubious business people.

1. Improvement: finally removing the ridiculous pricing caps. There limit is still undesirable ($16m last I checked), but still a big improvement.
2. Bad: charging the upfront fee to run auctions. No thanks.

Sedo, in the past six months, they have messed up four transactions of mine, all of which are buyer defaults. Do you only check the seller?
