I was looking at GoDaddy valuations and I had a name in there of mine. I then was doing some stuff for a few hours and came back and hit refresh for whatever reason.
The value of the name dropped by like $900, I was like that’s weird not that automated appraisals mean much.
In a poll I did on Namepros, 0 was the majority of votes given when asked their importance on a scale of 0 to 10.
So I started checking other names, one was a one word .com I was looking at the night before. It was valued at $11,900 and now it’s $10,600.
NH.tv a name of mine was valued at $11,833 and it’s now at $8,935.
Anchorman.net I just sold on Namepros when I posted the auction and quoted the valuation, it was $1,896. Now it’s $1,180.
I can say a couple 4L.coms I own did go up by $1,000, so not sure what all the logic behind everything is, but if you quote your valuations in sales threads, or outbound emails. They have changed.

Sure…something’s wrong? This happened to a lot of my domains as well. Many domains valued at $1,500 now $200. I’m sure it must be a glitch in the system.
Also, i’ve been having trouble accessing Hosterstats, a tool i use every day. Lets see what today brings…hopefully some corrections.

Hi,
I did a quick check on my GD portfolio (approx 1750 names) to compare valuation as done on April 27 as compare to May 13 valuation. Here are the results
The valuation went up by 1.04%
22% of domains decreased in value ($2642 biggest drop)
34% of domains increased in value ($3921 highest jump, on a 3L .com from $17K to $21K)
44% no change in valuation.
No new registrations during this period.
During the 14 day period sold couple of domains which were valued at a combined valuation of $6K for $9.5K through Afternic.

How do u get Godaddy evaluation for whole portfolio?

Good ole algorithm updates. Got to love them.

WTF? Just yesterday I reg’d DomainTakeout.com that was valued at $1,300 by GD and $4,450 by Nameworth. Today GD values it at $243. I didn’t buy it because of GD’s or Nameworths appraisal because due to the corona virus I own a mini portfolio of “takeout” “pickup” and “togo” domains.
Don’t you think GD should warn their customers before they change something like this?

A few weeks ago Texas.xyz had a $4500 GoDaddy valuation today it is $2800. So big drop which frankly in this case is probably more realistic.
For months and months BizFL.com was in the $2500 range. Well today on GoDaddy it jumped to $4100. So a nice boost there. I can though a majority of my other domains have lower GoDaddy valuations.
Thanks Raymond for pointing this out.

Id assigns a negative value, in regards to how automated appraisals help real domainers.
I could write a lot, but the summary is: it helps ppl with rather worthless domains, and hurts ppl with actual nicer ones. Most people *think* they have a boatload of ‘nicer ones’. That’s fine though – not much to do with the automated appraisal topic here.
Hopefully, you get the point…it helps move TRASH. It hinders bigger sales for domainers who want to BEAT THE MARKET.
AT best, you are willing to accept the status quo prices for your domains. IF people were to take this appraisal seriously, domains would have a hard time increasing in value.
The only people that like these tools literally have (probably all) worthless domains. Any time someone quotes an appraisal site, whether the appraisal is good or not, I lose all respect for their opinions regarding domains.
I’m sure there are people can argue with that all day. It’s my personal view. If you use a tool like that to make estimates AT all – you fail to grasp the most basic fundamentals of domaining.

Same here; some domains up and some down.
I think GD GoValue or any domain appraisal tool should have a warning:
Use at your own risk.
Most tools are undervaluing the domains and causing loss to the sellers and create friction during negotiations.

Is this Covid-19 effect as what I see in teems of CPC and CPM too that they have gone really low. Almost 7 to 9 times lower than earlier CPC, even the ads served are not good ones.
Other may aalo follow the same and not only GoDaddy but other registrars will wipe off the value of domains.
SAKTHIMICRO says
i also feel the same
All my domain valuations down to 80%
One of my domain 5000$ to just 500$, this is very Joke. So i Go from Gooooodaddy.
(Before i used Godaddy for valuation)

A thought: would it not be strange if home values did not fluctuate? So it updated and maybe changed an algorithm. Does not seem too concerning, really. Seems that it should only be one source of info among many anyway. Can’t ask for a refund on “free.” 😉
