Sedo used to have a policy that if you wanted to set a buy it now over $50,000 you needed approval via appraisal.
Sedo said last year, Here’s a neat update for those who want to sell their high-value premium domains at Sedo: We’ve lifted the price cap, meaning there is no need to order an appraisal for domains above $50,000 anymore.

Many don’t like asking for approval from a third party to price their own domain name. The need for an appraisal is even more infuriating, but things might have jumped the shark.
Sedo changing the rule seemed to make sense, but as one non domainer who I referred to Sedo to search for some ideas said to me last night, “It’s a clown show Bro!”
What do you say to e-Teslamotors.com for $6 million?
You bet it sounds expensive, never mind the obvious trademark.
How about TheBestBank.com for 16 million GBP?
It’s amateur hour, a clown show, or Ebay Jr. Take your pick.
Sedo might want to think about changing the policy again. Letting people post up to say $250,000 and approving requests higher than that.
Who is hitting the buy it now on a $10 million purchase anyway? The biggest sales are usually negotiated, no one is like “Hey boss, do I just hit the buy it now for $16 million or do you think they would take $8 million for LoansPleasure.com?
Alpha says
Finally someone points this out, clown show is not the word. It is very ebayesque.
Richard B Morris says
SeaDo? Do they sell jet ski’s. I have two in my backyard I’ll sell you☺
As your friend the “non domainer” said, “It’s a clown show Bro!”

Sedo is going to shrink no matter what they do. They have little distribution and no real benefit over Afternic.
Charles says
There seems to be some TLD bias, when I direct our .INFOs into SEDO sales pages we get sales. When I direct to Afternic sales pages we get very little sales. I have tested this a number of times with consistent results. I spoke to Afternic about this is they could give me no obvious reason why SEDO is better.

Several weeks ago, I received an offer of $300k for my 1 word letter, “o” with cctld. When i responsed (no counter offer, just a response that i need more detail from her), but there is no news from her until now. She didnt even open my email, according to my email tracker. Is she just a clown too?
Note: i didnt even price that much for that 1 letter “o”

@Free Web Builder Was that english?

Clown show or not, I don’t see what the problem is. The seller should have the freedom to list their domains at any price they want, regardless of the quality.
The only thing that’s gonna happen is that those domains will sit there and never sell. But it’s not harming anybody so…
Domain says
If you don’t see the problem maybe you’re part of the problem.
Makes Sedo look like a complete joke and the trademark domains maybe somebody should reach out to some of those TM holders and let them know what’s going on and the trademark domains maybe somebody should reach out to some of those TM holders and let them know what’s going on on Sedo.
Snoopy says
I don’t think anyone other than domainers actually visit Sedo itself to make a purchase. They’d be coming in via the domain lander or their distribution network. Other domains on the site aren’t going to have an effect.
SniffRicksbum says
Snoopy your wrong about everything, why you say anything with such confidence is beyond me. You made some remark about 3L.com’s dropping in value then 3 6/7 figure deals went through. Of course no comment by you
Your a absolute clown, no wonder you have no real identity, tbh i would be ashamed as you for posting such dumb horsesh1t
BullS says
Sedo afternic and the rest of the clowns are just a place to sell domains…nothing special.
Amazon..yea..I am sure you have either heard of that name and must have bought something from there could be a domain marketplace.
Yea Amazon Domain marketplace can wipe the rest of the clowns….
While you shop for a pair of shoes or a bunch of banana and a box of condom, you can shop for domains.
Every roads lead to Amazon.
Am glad I bought Amazon stocks ..
Ger says
You mean india5trilliondollareconomy2024-25 .com is not worth $16M??? Come on Sedo you need to be better than that.
AnnoyingTeddy says
Hahaha that is some pure comedy! Very much agree, it’s a bit annoying and very e-bay-ish..
BullS says
Amazon can just wipe off godaddy and the rest anytime …register ,buy sell and webhosting in the AWS cloud….all under Amazon
Col.Clown says
Isn’t everything turning into a clown show? Why should domaining be left behind? The clown show really kicked into high gear with the many new extensions. Next, you have the fake bidding on DropC and Godaddy auctions, you have the auto appraisal sht show etc Its all a mess and it grows everyday worse.
Frank Mueller says
its nobodies business what prize I tag my domains
but its Sedo s business not to look like a freak show
you don’t need sedo
so why even bother?
Sedo says
Hi everyone,
We appreciate how this has sparked such a lively discussion and we value feedback on new developments to our features. Initially the removal of the price cap was in good faith that our clients would use their discretion and not misuse this feature. When a domain is listed for an extremely high price exceeding its value, it’s only at the detriment to the seller as the domain typically will not sell.
With the exception of a few excessive prices, we have not seen prices on a broad spectrum set beyond reasonable amounts. That being said, we are in the process of looking into this more and are considering lowering the free listing ability.
We will keep everyone in the loop on any new changes to come.
Thank you!
Sedo

Sedo, too little too late…
Just don’t blame SEDO for your inability to sell your crappie domains.
The domain market has crashed (At the very least for the foreseeable future)
John says
Well censorship and suppression of speech is particularly in vogue now with the cv lockdown, so probably best to shut down this long awaited improvement because some people list what looks like garbage at really high prices, as if that was not something normal to be expected to some degree.
And I’ll just go back to hating that about Sedo and considering it a deal breaker when it affects me.
John says
And speaking of Sedo…
Looking for a recommendation or two here. I have around 150 domain names (ALL dot Coms) parked at Sedo… no great shakes with the parking revenues but not too bad for sales. I would like to utilize their MLS service which is a partnership of domain brokers/registrars to increase the visibility of my domains. Unfortunately, the registrar which I have used for almost 20 years is NOT a part of that clique—MyDomains.com. Plus i have become so disillusioned with their service and pricing at MyDomain that I would move my domains at the drop of a hat. Any recommendations? I do have 3 criteria: Must be a part of SedoMLS; must have half-decent customer service; and must be priced around $10 per renewal and hopefully less for transfers. This leaves the Ike of NetSol and GoDaddy out, of course. I appreciate any true recommendations and Thank you! John

LOL, Just received email about a domain in which I was interested. It’s a hindi/urdu word meaning *foolish*

We would like to inform you of some great news. The owner of the name you are interested in has set a Buy Now price for the name. That means that you have the ability to purchase this domain with no negotiation necessary!

The BIN is set at US$ 7.5 Million
LOL, LOL

Hilarious post and comments — thanks Raymond and everyone.
But hey — who doesn’t enjoy a good amateur hour clown show?!

Meanwhile, potential end-users are still trying to determine if Sedo is selling domains or selling cookies.
