Over the last few years we have published a series The good, the bad and the ugly. Readers have been able to leave their feedback and some companies have reached out over the years and let me know they took the posts to heart.
This year I want to try to change it up a bit and, What they do right and what they do wrong. Focusing in a little deeper to give better feedback to industry participants.
When posting what they do wrong, please give your suggestions on how they could improve upon what they are doing wrong.
Do not take ad hominem or personal cheap shots. Speak about the company and give some background on how long you have been a customer.
Do not use the post as an opportunity to promote your company or a competitor.
Today we focus on Namepros, What do they do right and what do they do wrong?
Other Right/Wrong posts.

Here is what they do wrong https://www.namepros.com/threads/see-you-around.1188196/page-13#post-7749191
What they do right? They let newbies think they have a chance to make money with average domains.

As for what they do right, they do a great job of attracting newcomers and making them feel welcome. Their vast database of searchable comments is a resource even if the native search engine is of moderate utility. For those with some patience, there is a lot of useful getting started content and a relatively willing community available to direct the newbies.
As for what they do wrong, they discourage business leaders from talking about their companies and products. I can’t tell if it is a veiled attempt to force sponsorship but it is too much. ICYMI, there is an old guard there that zealously defends some type of non-commercial ideal, rather than focusing on help domain investors maximize success.

Anything Rob says = Put him down.
That’s your agenda

LOL
My agenda is NP flooded (spammed) by Rob and his employers. I want to read opinions of others and don’t see Rob jumping on each and every thread with his SSL landers, etc. I don’t disagree with Rob, but I want him LESS.
And your agenda is obvious, Samer. You literally like everything Epik and go overboard defending him.

I quit namepros in February because they let one guy (cat something) spam the entire forum. The guy was the most unprofessional poster I ever saw. I spent a day trying to guide him. What happened, Bravo Mod deleted all my posts and left that idiots ramblings up. I felt absolutely flabbergasted that I spent a whole day posting for nothing and a troll stays up. So I cancelled my account, I figured I had better things to do with my time. If I could have deleted all my posts I would have, instead the most they allow is “Account Closed, Requested).
Now you just see my signature as… ” To be truly rich is to have sovereignty over your own time ”
I figured that was a perfect way to leave the forum, my time is valuable and many many members feel the same. I have never seen so many good members quit namepros, the list is staggering.
I wish Eric and his team all the best, I miss my friends at namepros but all the locking of topics and deletion of posts is out of control.

@MapleDots –
We are sorry that you closed your account, but we are glad that you still visit NamePros often. We consider your visits an opportunity to give you a reason to participate again, and we work hard every day in hopes to reach that day soon.
The member @BlackCatsAreNice was restricted on February 8 and remains restricted today. We notified you about it on the same day and tried to address your concerns, but you may have missed our reply.
We rarely close topics, but thanks to your feedback in 2019, we began closing them even less. In the past two months, we’ve only closed a handful of topics that were either duplicates or had run their course.
Thanks for your continued feedback. We’ll try to make it worth your time.

Glad I am not the only one..with seriously negative experience with them..
They provide the only high traffic global domain name community discussion forum with polls, domain feedback, auction etc which is good it exists ..
Act like a monopoly, with ridiculous rules, application of rules by overzealous clueless mods, biases all over the place ..other content moderation issue…very poor free member benefits forcing upgrades.

I have found Namepros to be an invaluable meeting place for domainers of all experience levels. There are great people and great deals there. Tons of information.
Namepros is the only forum I have found to reflect the pulse of domain investing at the most basic level.
Certainly there are personalities and drama from time to time, but those things are easy to avoid for the most part.
The biggest thing they do right is not only maintain a good environment, but try to improve.
The only thing I can think of that they do wrong is allowing brand new members to conduct auctions that could result in people getting scammed. I think there should be some way to offer protection to buyers.

Not sure that it’s wrong or their fault, they just attract beta males. Guys you would never want to be in a jam with.
Right – the top 20 members who post there that have actually had real success.
