A member on Namepros posted the launch of their new project on Rat.com. The service will charge users $2.99 a month for an ad free experience.
Rat.com was conceived of by a group of developers who grew tired with the amount of trolls and fake profiles populating social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn today, themselves a broader extension of what many call “fake news”.
Here is the full post:
We are pleased today to announce the launch of Beta 1.0 of Rat.com, a brand new premium social-media, e-commerce, messaging and entertainment service that is set to change the way we use mobile and Web apps. For more information to see the product go to Rat.com.
Rat.com was conceived of by a group of developers who grew tired with the amount of trolls and fake profiles populating social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn today, themselves a broader extension of what many call “fake news”. Rat.com charges its users a monthly fee as low as $2.99 for a more authentic, ad-free experience, which early adopters of the network maintain is worth every penny. Rat.com currently has a social app up and available with full messaging app, academy (e-learning), private major label / brand discount e-store, full live and hosted video streaming and other app features actively in development and due out in about a months time.
The way Rat.com verifies its users’ authenticity is the same way banks and financial services make sure their customers are who they say they are, by asking for two forms of identification from every user at sign up, which are kept confidential. In keeping with its authentic user experience offering, Rat.com is not being advertised in conventional media but is instead being marketed by word of mouth by some of the Internet’s largest influencers on social media.
Rat.com’s founders understand the sensitivity of social influencer needs too. While there is a lot of revenue produced over a very short space of time, changes in medium, follower tastes, generational shifts in audience etc. are all causes for concern for today’s top influencers. With the Rat.com Jade Founder model, an influencer of substantial notoriety is able to translate their large following today into constant future income via unique member revenue royalties that are paid monthly indefinitely. These influencer packages are by invitation only.
Our first Jade Founder we would like to announce is Rob Monster of Epik. We can’t emphasise enough how significant a role Rob and the amazing team at Epik played in our acquiring the domain Rat.com, especially at such a sensitive time right before the Chinese New Year of the Rat, which marks the start of a crucial new 12 year Generation Z consumer cycle.
Epik was our choice of escrow for the Rat.com purchase and we can’t recommend the brand and its magnanimous founder and chief executive Rob highly enough to anyone considering the purchase of a domain, and especially one that comes with such a premium status as one such as Rat.com. Our previous experience in purchasing premium domains was marred by a rather autocratic experience using alternate escrow services which left us with months of hard work for nought. With Rob’s personalised service, marked by a signature laid back efficiency and no nonsense approach, always direct and easy to reach, not to mention hyper efficient, its hard to over-emphasise to what extent Epik facilitated the Rat.com purchase for us and led to the swift and timely development of our Beta 1.0 version in time for the turn of the Chinese New Year.
Thanks @Rob Monster and its our honor to invite you to become a Jade Founder member for the endless hours you spent on our behalf without complaint making sure that the Rat.com purchase was swift, sound and assured!
Furthermore, Suggestions and feedback is very welcome!
Snoopy says
Sounds a mess, very negative term and they want to charge for something that people see as free?
Nick says
Some parents send kids to private school instead of public one may think of the value of ‘Elitist’ group.
Vito says
“and led to the swift and timely development of our Beta 1.0 version in time for the turn of the Chinese New Year.”
Is this a Chinese Company?
“Rat.com’s founders understand the sensitivity of social influencer needs too”
Who are the founders?
Michal says
“Who are the founders?”
Anyone who pays $12 999 is a founder.
Mark Thorpe says
@Vito 99% sure they are a Chinese company.
Vito says
Yeah Mark, based off of the shit I’m reading which is incredibly short and vague I am guessing the same.
So first off, you and Snoop are 100% correct, This is an absolutely horrible name for any little club.
Rat has nothing but very negative connotations.
A rat is a despicable, deceitful & disloyal human, or a disgusting rodent that transmits diseases, which we happily pay people to exterminate.
If this is a Chinese Company, think about the many reports we have been reading in the US recently…
US launches National Security Reviews of China-owned Tok Tok for spying.
Our DOD (Dept of Defense) has issued threats to anyone buying/flying Chinese Co. Unmanned aircrafts/drones.
Chinese owned Huawei poses National Security threats.
The list goes on and on and on…
OK now anyone please tell me. Are you going to send these RAT founders 2 forms of ID, and on top of them pay them any money at all so you can give them your personal info???
Rat.com – Rebrand your ugly LLL as an extermination Company.
Nick says
Rats usually reproduces fast. It’s over two weeks after Chinese New Year already!
Mark Thorpe says
Rat is a VERY negative word and meaning. Bad counseling/brokering there.
Their service should be free as well.
Like real influencers need more income! Philanthropy should be their main concern IMO, not making money off of their followers.
The Social Media service will be road kill sooner than later
VR says
Why should philanthropy be there main concern, is it your main concern?
Mark Thorpe says
If they are rich and a REAL Influencer, then they don’t need the money.
RaTHeaD says
i resemble that remark.
BullS says
Year of the rat!
Anunt says
Even though negative…i love the domain rat…it’s a good short catchy easy to remember domain but you guys got a lot of strong competition in the social media…
i will support u guys just because i love your domain
best of luck
Shifu Rat says
Warren Buffett once said bitcoin is ‘probably rat poison squared’! Does such comment make bitcoin a rat poison? Let alone squared?
Patrick says
Does anybody know what they paid for the domain?
Also, “Become a rat” is the invitation-to-action… really?
Fat Anon says
Used to be listed at MO for $125K.

A PERFECT example of this is when Apple decided to sell music that you could get in mp3 format for free pretty much anywhere online. People just went for the paid for service in the end as it was just easier… No bugs, no risk, peace of mind etc.
Fat Anon says
All of that looks like a viral marketing attempt – hoping to get major media attention to make the name popular and eventually resell.
I don't matter says
Well, after hit with a lawsuit, it would seem the domain Rat.com was in need of a makeover, if for nothing else, to preserve the resell value (or integrity), of a domain, that was once (somewhat recently) allegedly stolen.

Dumb idea; highly likely to fail.

“Reality Engineered Network”
“Become a Rat”
“…two forms of identification from every user at sign up”
Please insert the microchip in my left hand, it’s the one I use to hold the phone to sign in to the app.
Steve says
Great idea, but due to its horrid .com, it, unfortunately, doesn’t stand a chance.
Who’s gonna want to tell folks . . . “find me on Rat.com!”
Ugh.
Vincent says
Safe and effective to connect each other anywhere no matter in a dating app, biz partner app, private tutor app……in the platform if the security measure is done well.
Good idea!
Nick says
Agreed. It seems all users can interact with real credits thru Internet.
New user experience of social networking platform. New decade 2020. New cycle from RAT.
It will help efficiency for recruiters and traders too.
Though Rats aren’t often credited with positive attributes, we may think different if it remarks a milestone of change.
Fat Anon says
It has turned into some kind of blog with low amount of views and some weird claims (“roadmap: launching a registrar”)…
