Jamie Redman wrote a pretty long piece about the buying, selling and discussion of crypto related domain names.
Redman went through a lot of social media posts, referenced a discussion about crypto on Namepros and pulled out a bunch of sales.
It would have been nice for Jamie to have left out the squatter moniker and just referred to people buying a selling as domainers, investors or traders. He did point out that those who regged Ethereum.com lucked out before the crypto organization was actually created.
From the article:
With the popularity of digital currencies growing, the domain names attached to this industry will follow the same path. Squatters are gambling as well because they don’t know if that specific name will be a good internet brand and one that will entice a future buyer. On the forum Namepros.com, a marketplace where people buy and trade popular domain names, one user explained that digital currency domains are following market prices.

NIce article, but I agree that term “squatters” should be left out of it completely.
It is my experience though, that once people who refer to other’s as “squatters” are able to get some valuable domain names as well, they suddenly drop this term from their vocabulary instantly 🙂

From a screenshot provided by the author, it looks like he has no problems using non-.com domains as examples. I think that shows non-domainers are becoming aware of and accepting non-.com TLDs.
But calling people who rightfully own their properties “squatters” is ridiculous. Try calling owners of empty lands “squatters” and see what happens.

Had a decent offer on Bitcoinhotwallet.com the other day but valuing them is so hard.

Forking the crap out of Bitcoin is squatting IMO.
Creating altcoins that they know will never succeed is squatting too.
Buying Bitcoin.com and using the domain to promote Bitcoin Cash instead of the original Bitcoin is squatting as well.
So Jamie, you know what you can do with your “squatter” opinion!

they use the word squatter because they missed out on great domains. keep in mind these people at bitcoin.com tried to tell their visitors to the site that the real bitcoin was BCASH (bch) bot BITCOIN (BTC) they have no credibility and that’s the fact within the community. I don’t think their owner roger ver can visit the United States.
