now that’s the power of a domain name, and putting a number on the value of a popular and easy to remember premium word.
great get Ray
and whats the name worth, again its only bounded by the imagination of the seller, and the buyer’s use case, and can afford it, if those tow things meet, theres a deal.

Not really true! If sold throw GoDaddy brokers direct the commission is paided by the buyer. I have sold two domains throw GoDaddy brokerage, FutbolMania.com for $20,000 and just last week ProSnaps.com for $5,000 and was not charged any commission, all paid by the buyers.

See my comment about it over at DI.
VR says
I wouldn’t read DI if you paid me.

I’m referring to this DI: https://domaininvesting.com/voice-com-domain-name-acquired-for-30-million/#comment-83832.
Do you have something against DomainInvesting.com, or do you have another DI in mind?
VR says
Thought you meant incite, I will check it out at investing.

Paul Nicks just noted on Twitter:

that the $30 million was *before* commission, so the actual price was even higher than $30 million!! Perhaps someone will reach out to the buyer to get the total price actually paid (GoDaddy won’t disclose it, but perhaps the buyer will, given there appears to be no NDA).

Wish I at least brokered. ?
steve says
I tried to buy this name from the company and even hired a broker but we never got a response.
Is it worth 30 Million? I believe that and more, but this price would have exceeded my investment group’s top price.
Voice, Tel, Chat, Cam, Med, Care, Stream, Sports, eSports, SportsBet — these are all 8 figure domains.
And with legalized sports betting in many states in the USA and the rest to follow, SportsBet.com would probably be worth 30 million.
But the same company, a holding company for a large conglomerate, owns nearly every well-known extension except for .TV and .Me. I own several “Voice” key words in some extensions, but not the big ones: net, .org, .tv, .me or even .ai (which I also tried to buy) — even though I realize it’s not even remotely in the class of Voice.com
Great sale for buyer and seller.
Henry says
I also think it is worth the price paid. I have been in the domain business since 1999 and have owned many domain names but not to that level. My best are USsports.com, WorldBanker.com and SoccerMania.com.
steve says
@Henry,
USSPORTS.COM is a fine name — as well as the other two, Most of the casinos and groups in the USA are building “sportsbetting” and “sportsbook” apps, and we’re looking at over 100 Billion USD in this sector. USSPORTS.COM should attract some end-users in this nascent but burgeoning sector in the USA, Good luck!
Henry says
Yes I am thinking like you about USSPORTS.COM I got it in an auction in 1999. After getting it I started buying around it like USsportsFans.com, USsportsMedia.com, USsportsNetwork.com, USsportsBusiness.com, USsportsFitness.com, USSportsGames.com, CollegeUSsports.com, FantasyUSsports.com and got the Spanish USDeportes.com. I liked USSPORTS.COM that much that I purchased all these to cover the brand.
I am not sure if it was a great idea or that I went crazy.
Henry says
Steve, do you broker domains? If so do a whois on USSPORTS.COM and send me an email so we can connect
steve says
@Henry
I don’t broker domains. I’m good at negotiations, but I’m a terrible salesman. I’ve hired brokers in the past — but they want domains they can move fast. I’m preparing some domains for brokering next week.
If it were USASPORTS.com I’d prob make you an offer. But it’s still a mighty handsome name. best of luck
Henry says
USASPORTS.com has not been used in any of the betting news but the real value is USSPORT.com.

I have not found one article saying USA SPORTS All say US sports betting. So it looks like the keyword is US Sports which makes it very valuable domain asset
Henry says
Steve, I just did some quick research on the two keywords US Sports and USA Sports
Google search results
US Sports 12,900,000,000 Search Results
USA Sports 7,220,000,000 Search Results
Also what I found is that in the sports news media they only use the keywords US Sports and didn’t find any using USA Sports. Some of the largest media companies like CNN, CBS use the US Sports keyword. Examples are below,

https://www.cnn.com/specials/sport/us-sports
