Verisign released their first quarter DNIB report for 2019. Notable findings in the report include:
· Q1 2019 closed with approximately 351.8 million domain name registrations across all top-level domains (TLDs), a 0.9 percent increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2018 and a 5.4 percent increase year-over-year
· .com and .net TLDs had a combined total of approximately 154.8 million domain name registrations in the domain name base at the end of Q1 2019, recording a combined increase of 6.5 million domain name registrations, or 4.4 percent year-over-year
· New .com and .net domain name registrations totaled approximately 9.8 million domain name registrations at the end of the Q1 2019, compared to 9.6 million domain name registrations at the end of the first quarter of 2018
· Total new gTLDs (ngTLDs) domain name registrations were 23.0 million at the end of Q1 2019, a decrease of 0.8 million domain name registrations, or 3.4 percent, compared to the fourth quarter of 2018
