Yes, casino, poker and sportsbet domains sell well in most extensions.
Good deal for both buyer and seller.
Glenn says
I get that casino, poker and sports betting domains sell well in most extensions, but ONLINECASINO.ME for $20K!!!
In the .ME extension Online Casino makes ABSOLUTELY ZERO SENSE!!!
DomainBoss says
Casino domains always sell for big bucks, we have sold many in 6 figures over the years.
John says
Got news for you – that is a myth. You were just fortunate. I have tons of experience in this field. The market for these domains is one of the most lowballing, predatory, cheapskate, Ebenezer Scrooges I have ever seen. It’s the most ironic thing ever given the nature of the industry. Even for the best of the best domains they are still that way and will argue all day long about how even domains like poker.com, slots.com, etc. are not worth nearly as much as one would think. In fact, now they argue that domain names themselves are almost worthless, with few exceptions among them, and they are as anti-domain name as it gets.
Would love to know what you sold to get an idea of how you were so fortunate when I know this reality to be the case like the back of my hand.
steve says
I have no idea who purchased onlinecasino.me or sportsbookapps.com last week on Sedo
What I do know is that sportsbet.com, sportsbet.net, sportsbet.org, and many more sportsbet idomains in 7 other extensions sold for a fortune to the same entity in the “gaming” industry… as sportbetting continues to become legal in more states (NY will be next – in 2 weeks), & you can expect these names to be worth gold.
Also, based on publicly reported transactions in the gaming industry, these names have fetched some of the highest prices ever recorded. What was the price for Vegas.com? LasVegas.com, Poker.com, Poker.de, Casino.com, Casino.de, Poker.me, etc Bet.com, Bet.de, Bet.co.uk, Bet.me
Amr says
I sold poker dot me for $30k years ago.
Brian says
Yes, these names have always fetched high prices. Poker, Sportsbet, Casino, Bet, Sportsbook, Betting, Vegas, LasVegas, Macau, Slots.
Poker.me for 30 K was a good deal for buyer and seller
John says
Honestly, you guys should read what I wrote above. There have been a small number of high dollar sales, but that’s it. Those in the industry really do what I just described. And to clarify:
Casino.com sold for a steal, far below what it was worth.
I personally had input before Slots.com sold, and if it weren’t for my input it may have been very unlikely it would have sold later for a price matching the one for Casino.com. The fact that Slots.com sold for the same price even implicitly acknowledges how Casino.com, a much more valuable name, had sold far to cheap to begin with.
Poker.com did not sell. Now people in the industry argue vehemently that it’s not even worth much and that domains themselves are not even worth much.
Brian says
“Poker.com did not sell. Now people in the industry argue vehemently that it’s not even worth much and that domains themselves are not even worth much”
If you can’t sell poker.com for high 6 figures, I suggest you get out of sales. We brokered some of our highest sales to large entities in the gaming and casino industry over the last few years.
You may wish to consult namebio to see reported sales. I know the couple who acquired some of the super premium domains in the early 1990s, and with the proceeds of those sales, they have funded hospitals and world-class research centers. Domains that sold for 7 figures each. I asked them if they had any regrets per not registering any domains, as nearly everything was available for 100 USD each. Both said: gambling and poker and betting names — as that would have generated an additional 100 million USD in sales.
John says
Brian, what am I to make of you? If anyone sold poker.com for high 6 figures they should be certified insane, and surely you must know that if you know anything. Last I heard the ask was $20 million, and as far as I’m concerned that’s a super bargain price.
“We brokered some of our highest sales to large entities in the gaming and casino industry over the last few years.”
Who is this “we” you are talking about? If that is the business you and this “we” are in, then surely you would be happy to identify this brokerage business. And if none of the sales were under NDA, then how about saying which great domains were so brokered, maybe even includes some prices?
“You may wish to consult namebio to see reported sales”
Maybe I will, but how about just saying yourself?
“Both said: gambling and poker and betting names — as that would have generated an additional 100 million USD in sales”
Right – that was *then*. I don’t doubt for one moment that would have happened then in the early days. But casino.com sure sold cheap compared to what it’s worth. Even a basket of domains for 7 figures is not exactly enough to be “funding hospitals and research centers,” unless you just mean donating something but not actually funding the whole thing.
