When running an auction you need to be meticulous about a lot of things. From marketing the auction, to look at competing inventory closing around the same time, to the time when the auction will close.
The time an auction closes is very important, I see people closing auctions on GoDaddy at 2 am on a weekend and wonder why even bother?
I just happened to be getting ready to go to bed 5 a.m. my time and just saw an auction closing at Sedo for FKB.com. This is a terrible time to close the auction, and the name closed for $15,500.

This is a disappointing price for a 3L.com no aeiouv. This is the lowest price in 2018 for a 3L.com Chip reported by Namebio.
Outside of one outlier on Flippa yzk.com at $17,000, the next lowest is close to 50% higher.
You can’t be lax on the details with a valuable domain like a 3L.com.

Your claim is correct when you’re only considering the Americas’ times but while 5am your time is clearly terrible, it’s pretty appropriate for the Euro and Asian times..

Oliver I am not being the ugly American here, I always think about the global perspective. I agree with you, but there are still better times. First you don’t want to exclude North America, and a Saturday morning not the best day, you want to be in the middle of the work week at a time that works for everyone as best as possible.
Even a few hours can make a difference and would still be good to optimal for the other timezones.

Thanks for this. I’ve found not only the time is important but also on some marketplaces the day of the week is very important. Flippa for instance, gets most of its traffic on Tuesdays and Wednesday’s. This is partly because Tuesday is the day they send out emails showcasing domains.
If your looking for end user pricing, always end your auction on a weekday during regular business hours, for your time zone, allow an extra hour or two as most marketplaces add time to the ending if a new high bid was placed. Flippa extends their auctions to 60min, so allowing a minimum of two hours is best. I personally try to end my auctions at 1:30pm just after lunch, this also allows for time change differences in North America so all bidders are active.

For the FKB.com *not sure if its legit auction. Things may smell different?
