Google is always doing something and sometimes it’s wanted and other times it’s not wanted, like messing with the URL.
According to Zack Whittaker at TechCrunch, when Google releases Chrome 70 a lot of popular sites are going to be blocked.
From the article:
Chrome 70 is expected to be released on or around October 16, when the browser will start blocking sites that run older Symantec certificates issued before June 2016, including legacy branded Thawte, VeriSign, Equifax, GeoTrust and RapidSSL certificates.
Yet despite more than a year to prepare, many popular sites are not ready.
Why so many popular websites would waste this long is puzzling but they better get on the ball.

Whats the deal with the Chrome70.com website? I don’t see any product information for Chrome 70 in there? What’s Google thinking?

Just deploy LetsEncrypt. It’s free and there are tons of scripts out there in GitHub for easy batch deployment and renewals.
