Last week I wrote about 6666666.com (7x) at GoDaddy. 6666666.com is off to the races. It was up to $78,777 after 2 days.
While that price seemed outrageous the auction has gone higher and now sits at $99,999 and closes today.
GoDaddy educated everyone on the Dispute.com auction how fast payment needs to be made. This is the best case scenario closing on a Monday, so do you think this auction will get paid in full?
Update: I reached out to Joe Styler on Namepros and he posted:
We verify all bids especially high value ones. There’s two bad bidders on this auction. The bidders were banned from bidding again and other more secure steps were also taken but the bids were not cancelled as normally immediately follows. I can see we pretty much knew right away the bids were bad and then took action on any related accounts days ago. Normally bids are removed when we find a bad bidder immediately following us taking steps to make sure they cannot bid ever again on the auctions. This time the bidder wrote in once he realized he could not bid anymore and said he would send us payment for the amount up front to prove he’s legit. That seems to also be false so we are walking back the bids. There’s a similar situation with the other bidder. Bottom line we were watching this auction closely as was everyone else.

I don’t understand bidding patterns, how could bidder 11 bid before bidder 10?
Bidder 11
9/27/2018 3:58 AM $99,999
Bidder 10
9/27/2018 4:12 AM $99,999
+$18,999
Bidder 11 (Auto)
9/27/2018 3:58 AM $81,000
+$1,000
But they claim they don’t need bidder identification.

seems cheap.
Vito says
Sarcasm correct?
If not then How in the world does a 7N.com at 100k right now seem cheap?
The highest ever reported 7N.com domain sale is only $5500.
Do you have history somewhere else that shows any 7N.coms ever sold in the 5 digit ($XX,XXX) range?
Or in the 6 digit range?
Vito says
This auction makes no sense at all.
I call BS.

The owner of phone number 666-6666 placed the bid?
Vito says
Ok lets say the owner of the phone number is a bidder.
This auction still makes no sense when highest ever 7N was at only $5500. Never any 7N reported higher.
Bidders 7, 8, and 9 in at 10k. All (3) of them in til 76k
Bidder 9 out at 77k.
Bidder 8 out at 77.8k
Bidder 10 in at 81k
Bidder 11 in at 99.9k
If this doesnt look weird to anyone else then i am lost.
There is no way this closes at the price its at now or more based on history of previous 7N sales. Can somebody know that there is an end user and pushing price up?
Still over 2 hours to go.
Very weird auction.

let’s tell our wives we’ve gone to the convention… they’ll be none the wiser.

after the correction, now, things are much better 🙂
Vito says
This is the only domain auction i have ever seen in my life, where all the bids go backwards (LOWER) in the last hour of auction.
Was at 99.9
Went to 77k
Just looked a couple minutes ago and flashed from 77k straight to 69.8k
WTF???
Still a half hour to go, might be able to get this one for $100 at the rate it is going.
