This is the second site that reported the facebook and twitter account numbers. Although they (the new owner of the domain) probably could access both through account reset and catchall, unless this was a brand and they use a separate company email for correspondence, this would amount to theft.
Your gmail (johnsmith@gmail.com) may become free but that doesn’t entitle you to the bank details of the previous John Smith. Facebook and Twitter accounts are valuable separate entities, a URL doesn’t entitle you to ownership of the corresponding properties.
On another note, the last FB post was a bit ironic…
“There’s an old saying that goes, ‘If it’s not tied on, it’s gone’. If you’re prone to being disorganized, then this might hit very close to home. There are those aberrations of people who seem to have everything filled and locked down, they’re never late, never lost, and their socks always match. This monastic level of organization probably doesn’t come naturally to too many of us, and there’s something comforting in a little chaos.”

Result of too many bong hits? 🙂
