There have been many bidding scandals, GoDaddy’s refusal to show bidder id’s etc…
Do you trust GoDaddy Auctions, NameJet, Snapnames and DropCatch when it comes to platform integrity, fraud detection systems in place, etc…?
Please note this vote should only be based on auctions, not registrar or other services included.
Do you trust the major auction houses?
You can also vote which one you trust the most

The short answer is no not always each case is different the why is longer but I will do my best to explain short form.

-Nothing is new under the sun

Namejet has some trust issues, with bids just under the reserve, some schill bidding concerns, multiple usernames.
Godaddy do not like the feature where a few automated bots jump on any bid, and bid it up automatically, those parties are making a killing for the house by taking out proxy bids.
Snap been there done that
Dropcatch had some issues with non paying bidders, and special circumstances for other bidders which brought on an unfair bidding advantage when they could go months without paying for bids.
So long story short, they all have their edge to make sure the house always wins. If these were regulated auction houses, they would be long fined for various issues.

Two auction sites above.com and flippa should also be included. My one successful sale on above.com was later on canceled as the buyer failed to pay.
Raymond Hackney says
Neither do expired auctions or anywhere near the volume of the 4 major auction houses.
Steve B says
If the buyer fails to pay, that has nothing to do with trustworthiness of the auction house.
david says
I had a bid of £100,000 on Flippa for nowul.com.
They then bared me from the site, because they didn’t believe the bid was genuine.
A few days later after complaining, I was allowed back.
I dont have the email of the bidder, so lost that one, down to Flippa.
I must say that page views of my domains on both flippa and sedo are very low. However, on Ebay I have had more views in a week, than a whole year on Sedo and Flippa, also my pages on ebay sometimes get top of google, depending what you search for. I have several dot com dog domain names, simply tpe dog domains for sale, and there I am.
2nd sept 2018. Will post another post if I sell one on ebay.

i vote – no.
most trustworthy – godaddy
Green Jobs says
I trust auction houses as much as I trust politicians. 🙂
Mark Thorpe says
Doesn’t matter which auction platform you use, bidder protection is at the bottom of their priority list. Company profits on the other hand, are at the top of their priority list.
Trent says
Well said, they go hand in hand, the more protection the bidders have the less money the auction houses make.
Do you realize when a non paying bidder on godaddy is suspended, how many bids, and auctions they placed that are not cancelled, edging up proxy bids etc… I have never seen godaddy go back, and say this person was suspended, all their bids are void, at this point the damage would be in tens of millions.
As well cancelled godaddy bidders can easily make a new account, and start the whole process all over again.
John says
Why would you trust an auction house that denies it’s an actual “auction house” to skirt legal responsibility.
Richard says
I’d rather trust a mortgage broker from the summer of 2006 than ANY domain “auction house”.
Namejet with the shill bidding.
Dropcatch with its constant unpaid high bids.
Godaddy charging you sales tax even if that tax doesn’t apply plus the Dispute.com disaster..
Rick Schwartz says
They ALL SUCK!
They don’t have an ounce of credibility combined.
They should all be ashamed of how they do business. How they screw domainers.
I have NOTHING GOOD to say about any of them!
They protect the WRONG PEOPLE!!

In a word NO! Go Daddy and Snap names definately NOT. Dropcatch has shown to be legitimate and trustworthy for the most part atleast until you get to the bigtime names that draw out all the fake bid crooks.
Robert McLean says
Hear Hear, Mr. Schwartz !
Succinct and to the point.
Blatant, criminal, conflict of interest, self-serving
business model that further stagnates liquid, domain name, free trade.
Domainers are forgotten in their contribution to the development of the internet and e-commerce.
Forgotten, and to a large extent, maligned and disrespected.
