Well the news we reported on about Gay.app yesterday might ( I SAID MIGHT) just be true.
Gay.app now forwards to Blued.com (of course a redirect does not mean a sale took place), a Chinese based social app geared toward the gay community. Blued has received over $131 million in funding.
Early this morning someone tweeted me that there was talk about the sale on Weibo.
Already confirmed in weibo, the co-founder of blues. The link is https://t.co/0aMh4LpqBI pic.twitter.com/IbRMksTqo0

Now I don’t know if this sale will be ever verified by a website that is recognized in the domain industry.
One of the comments on Weibo was 100万美金的跳转网站,LGBTQ的域名保护意识厉害了!
Google translated this as One million dollar jump site, LGBTQ’s domain protection awareness is great!
Again before people lose their minds or start trolling, this sale is not confirmed by anyone the industry acknowledges, (to those outside the industry, they probably don’t care about this distinction).
Some will ask why report or discuss a sale not verified? Because it’s important to shine light imo, there are people who will see these sales on other places that don’t have much conversation. By a sale being talked about, people will either prove it or disprove it, that way those new to the business will have more information before they decide to register similar names.
Disclaimer: Please do not take this possible sale as a reason to go out and register lesser quality gay related domains in .app.

You know there will be a huge spike in gay registers in all extensions with people hoping to cash in-
They already bought their name – don’t waste your money

Exactly right Richard.

My guess – the sale is legit. Based on the enormous 100 million USD funding round it recently closed, and the product offering is a gay app. And now it’s the “gay.app”
But I wouldn’t recommend people registering lots of .app domains or gay key word domains, just because of this sale.
If it’s verified, I guess we’ll have our first 7 figure GTLD sale.
Big question: who was the seller?
Congrats on that!
Yongtong says
The seller is the man who sold Tesla.cn to Elon Mask.
Aaron Strong says
Turned down some substantial offers on some .app domains recently. I am sure others have as well.

I think a little weekend fun is. In order. How about posting some available gay .coms? Full disclosure Yes, I have one to add.
Congrats to seller BTW.

Blue.app sucks the owners knows nothing!
domain guy says
This is exactly what I was stating two weeks ago. Not one .app sale and everybody talking about selling their .app on sedo. Although not confirmed. This is probably a legitimate sale. As I stated .app is different than all the other new tlds.
S. Brady Alliy says
Not questioning your opinion. You and others have every right to like what you wish.
I thought .company was a better extension from a bran standpoint. Here is why.
People go to a search engine aka web to search for a lending plumbing home services insurance company etc
People go to the app store for apps.
For this reason I thought having a .company would be more attractive for businesses trying to attract internet users.
Just my .02
Snoopy says
It is always different otherwise nobody would buy.
.tv, .mobi, .biz, .xyz, .club. Each one supposedly had something unique that would set it apart from all previous new tld’s.
Wake up people! it is the same old crap being peddled!

Interesting, Trolling.App is taken but TrollingApp.Com is up for grabs!

Chinese are known for fake sales , .app was hype, and now all these premium renewals are headed for drops.

The seller is the man who sold Tesla.cn and Tesla.com.cn to Elon Mask.
Mark Thorpe says
“Might” of given a down payment and be leased on a payment plan.
Richard says
Definitely not a legit sale. The alleged seller is known for faking deals. Around 2 years ago he claimed on twitter that he had sold father.com for more than a $1m during an auction in China. a couple of users asked the right questions, and he deleted the tweet. The name is still with him… He is a complete cheat, and recently rebranded his twitter account to APP. Look him up: twitter.com/domain
BTW I have no doubt that the name did sell.. but nowhere near $1m
Richard says
That’s his second twitter account: twitter.com/chinese
He apparently made a killing by registering the trademark “Tesla” in China.

Yongtong says
the domain father.com belongs to Mingyang now who sold lian.com for RMY 120 million.
Richard says
BOTH statements are false. Father.com has the same lander since 2016 and lian.com was sold for $220,000, which is NOT RMB 120m. By the way it is either RMB or CNY, but RMY doesn’t exist in world of currencies.
