Namepros member MapleDots reported that they purchased the premium one word domain Red.ca for $20,000.
MapleDots said they will be re-branding the domain as a Canadian Domain Re-seller.
This would be a top 50 all time sale in .ca according to Namebio.
Red.com manufactures digital cinematography and photography cameras and accessories.
Congrats to both the buyer and seller.

Congrats.. Buyer and Seller.

That is a good strategy on the part of Red Cameras. Great name and great sale. Congrats to both parties
Brad says
Red cameras has nothing to do with it.
Chinyelu Chidozie says
What do you mean they have nothing to do with it? Isn’t Red.com the manufacturers of all those 4k red cameras used for digital cinematography? And by getting the .ca of the name, haven’t they further consolidated on their brand? Or is this sale about another red.com?
cmac says
They didn’t buy it..
Chinyelu Chidozie says
Oh. OK. Thanks for the correction
Brad says
Did you read the article? It’s a tiny 5 sentence explanation about who bought it and what they are going to be using it for. I’m not even sure why Red.com gets a mention, but I guess it’s just for comparison sake.

Been on sale at dnf for years, never could sell, check domain jail for whamm story of escrow several, and failure, along with previous owner claiming to .ca registry it was transferred in error, .ca market has been stagnant for years now, but it is a big color, and word.
On DnF I saw it listed for $5k once, $8k another time, and other times just asking range of 5 figures over the years.
cmac says
yeah, could of got it much cheaper a couple years ago.

As long as everyone is happy that is all that matters. Congrats to all!

As long as the dancing banana is happy, I’m happy.

Hey guys, I bought the domain and have been trying to get it for a long time, including through a broker at uniregistry. I paid what I thought it was worth in today’s marketplace. As far as the domain owner goes, he was straight up with me and because I knew the history he transferred the domain to me. I only paid after the transfer was fully completed. So the only conclusion I can give is the guy came through with his responsibilities. We will talk about the value of the domain again if and when I decide to sell it, speculation is great but only sales count. T
Thank you for all the supportive emails and best wishes from the forums.

He played you as he offered it much cheaper in the past, you made you desperation to public on namepros where wham is a member. Last time he pulled this, the domain has tenaferred also and he recalled it by claiming to circa it was transferred in error as to what dnjail wrote.
If your happy paying $20k good for you. Your name, your money, I never seen so much fan fare over a damn .ca
Steve says
Great name. Good price for both parties.

Just added pink.ca to my portfolio as well as a slew of other high end .ca domains. I have invested considerable funds to build one of the best .ca portfolios.
