So back in 2016 there was a best registrar poll on Namepros where GoDaddy won going away. They had over 50% of the vote.
So last month I posted the 2017 poll and GoDaddy trailed early but came on at the close for the win. The early leader was NameSilo who seems to be an upcoming favorite with many domain owners.
A few registrars really need to take a look at themselves and wonder how they fared so poorly.
The 2016 poll looked like this below:
Who is the best registrar in your opinion?

I say Godaddy because of the premium listings and end users prefer them. I am surprised Uniregistry did not do better. What up Frank?

Support is lacking, and maybe they hate being outbit by taryn with their own money

I guess domain investors like to pay more for renewals and even with discount club.. They don’t even have the best interface. The only reason I still have domains at godaddy is because of the expired auctions.. ?

What is godaddy charging you?

Name Silo ,Is by far the best company ,Godaddy a multibillion dollar company is not going to let them come out ahead in a poll like this. I’m sure there was bulletins around GD office saying sign up at namepros and vote or were gonna come in second to a company with a handful of employees. I love godaddy as an investment and cashcow business model that’s why I own so much of the stock and options. Another great company that I have an account at is porkbun ,people should check them out too

Actually this was the first I heard of it and I am on Namepros everyday. If I didn’t see Ray post it on Domaining.com I wouldn’t have even noticed this. We don’t have any signs anywhere. We try hard to help everyone we can be successful at domain investing. If there anything I can do to help please let me know.

Joe ,to cut out customers defecting to other companies offering free privacy, offer free privacy to customers with more than 20 domains.{ON DEMAND} domainers will naturally find out and the public will still pay. In the long run this will help the aftermarket revenue ,because no one will be able to contact owners via whois ,to buy the domain directly from customers when they see valuable domains expiring, domainers will not pay for privacy if they can get it free,so the risk reward for implementing this is a no brainer. To me the auction market seems to be the bread and butter here, Afternic is really really ,horrible lately ,absolutely no follow up by salesmen ,if they were as aggressive as unireg sales team ,sales would triple ,your the google of domaining and they are screwing it up. Too much to add about this so ill just keep it short for now. happy holidays

Some good ones there, but Epik should have placed *much* higher. People may simply not know what they are missing. But I’m sure it’s not for nothing Konstantinos appears to be making it his primary: https://onlinedomain.com/2017/12/08/domain-name-news/mike-mann-move-300000-domain-names-tucows-godaddy/.

Godaddy has one of the better support in the industry. I love their live chat support, but for thorough tech support they should bring back the email/ticket support too. Their renewal prices of various products are bit higher than the original purchase price. But Price-wise NameSilo and NameCheap both are best than Godaddy. I’m happy customer of all the three companies.

GD should never win this poll.
