Rick has said In the next 2 tweets I will release 4 the 1st time my emails just b4 http://porno.com deal was struck.
Interesting that things were that contentious and then the deal was back on.
Rick Schwartz says
Real buyers keep their eye on the prize and don’t get insulted too easily.
Howie says
Great to hear you on gimlet media, discussing the early days and the porno.com deal. Excellent.

The philosophy here is simple and if you have the correct mindset, you aren’t missing a thing
— You never lose what you never had.

“Glory Days”
I had a friend was a big baseball player
back in high school
He could throw that speedball by you
Make you look like a fool boy
Saw him the other night at this roadside bar
I was walking in, he was walking out
We went back inside sat down had a few drinks
but all he kept talking about was …
He labels himself as having #ballsofsteel in tweets — LOL! Egomaniacs are funny creatures
MM says
If you pay attn you can actually learn something.
John says
Striker, did you seriously just slam this delightful royal man?
STRIKER says
Right place, right time – good for him, but PAHLEASE don’t make try to paint him as some sort of business savant…not even close. Sure, he took the plunge back in the day one he recognized the potential payoff, but capital requirements were next to nothing relatively speaking (yes, I know domain registrations cost $100 per anum back then – BFD).
Not hating on the dude, but am only slightly more impressed than I am of someone who played the correct powerball numbers. Money doesn’t buy Class or Intelligence.
Rick Schwartz says
Please tell us all the accomplishments you’ve had in life. Would like to hear. Now it’s my turn to pass judgment.
STRIKER says
That’s one of what I imagine are many differences between you and me – I don’t seek attention for my personal or business accomplishments.
If your present liquid net-worth is north of $4MM then you have me beat (if knowing that does something for you).
Rock On
peterpam says
I like domain king because he just tell things how they are, no sugar coating or dickriding.
He got balls of titanium!!!
Hans says
I think he got gold balls after that deal 😉
jose says
@Rick Schwartz , what were the terms that pissed you off? can you disclose it at least in general terms?
Rick Schwartz says
No. I would not share that. Let’s just say I know how to read a contract really well and thoroughly. And I’m nobodies fool.
jose says
I appreciate your disclosure of the details of this transaction. However, since you are “roasting” the buyer now after some time has passed from the sale it puzzles me how problematic the details were that you cannot explore them more now.
I would imagine something like reverting the sale in case of missed sales/profit objectives based on the perceived value of the domain in terms of traffic. But from the contents of the emails I can make a guess of what might be involved.
thanks.
Rick Schwartz says
I shared major details of a huge deal that NOBODY does. Only an idiot or a moron would object and not learn something from it. But as we all know there’s no shortage of jealous idiots and morons in domaining.
STRIKER says
The email-chain you shared was Negotiating 101 (laced with a bit of anger as you took their tactics a bit too personally IMHO). Nothing earth-shaking there, my friend. We get it, you owned a valuable domain that someone with deep-enough-pockets wanted to own…the rest of the color commentary was not much more than bluster; and at least for me, slightly amusing.
Rick Schwartz says
You must have a really crummy life. I’m sorry you’re so jealous. I’m sorry that you’re an anonymous nobody. I’m sorry you don’t count. I’m sorry that this is the way that people like you have to make themselves important. You’re not. And guess what? you never will be.
It’s amusing though. To watch fools like you act so ridiculous. You’re only success is challenging the success of others. What an existence! I pity you.
Rick Schwartz says
PS: if anger is the only thing that you got out of my emails then you’re a failure as a negotiator. You’re clueless when it comes to negotiations. You know nothing about business. You’re nothing but a pretender wannabee. With no accomplishments. Just a big mouth on a blog.
Go challenge some kid in the schoolyard. That’s more your speed I think.
Note to self: NEXT!
STRIKER says
Nice sunglasses.
Domain says
The guy is a troll Rick that has nothing better to do. Thank you for sharing details.
