Tomorrow the domain Facebbok.com is closing on DropCatch. The domain is currently at $3,750. The domain was originally registered way back in 2006. The other factor when these types of domains drop is the current auction participants have no idea if the reason the domain dropped was the previous registrant got a cease and desist from the tm holder. So here you are bidding on a name that’s already on the tm holder’s radar, you just don’t know it.
Facebook is no stranger at going after typos or other domains they feel infringe their intellectual property.
Hell they went after ridiculous names like <faecdook.com>, <faecook.com>, <fecaboock.com>.
Here is the full details of a UDRP from last year where Facebook got the three names mentioned above along with 40 more Facebook and Instagram related domains.
Aamir says
What is the moral duty of dropcatch.com in this scenario.
Rich says
To bad they don’t UDRP in auction, some of these dropcatchers need a wakeup call
Kate says
Sad to see that kind of stuff still going on in 2017.
What are the bidders thinking (if they actually think) ?
redacted says
what a waste of cash.
Kate Buckley says
Someone—who shall remain nameless—just asked me to broker it. I literally replied, “That’s a UDRP in waiting.” Unbelievable.
