I don’t think it will do mainstream users any good, this WAS more of a domainer based register, just domainers taking stabs in the dark, and putting up parking pages, with sales link in hopes of someone coming along and throwing some money their way.
1 year from today look for a lot of drops, and take off auto renew

Moniker is worst register out there, I wonder why even someone mention them.

Moniker support it’s a lot better now. (Since 2 month) they changed a lot

It’s to late, I had 800 domains there once, now I have 17 left, only because I can’t remove privacy on them, something is out of wack.
I remember the days of calling support, waiting 30 minutes then getting a hang up, or calling support, and getting voicemails.
Good times for sure, there is no need to use moniker, so many other players, wtf for.

Moniker support has improved considerably in the last few months, I think this is great idea, I´lld definitely get my free .shop domain and I´ll give them a chance again!
Shams says
.Shop is a good extension but with limitations and giving away free domain, IMO it will not change the user’s opinion. As mentioned above only domainers are taking the .shop in hope to sell it or for the parking revenue. I also had very bad experience with the moniker and their support was worst at that time. However, I’m totally cut off from them after transferring all of the domains.

Due to the high demand for the free .shop domains, we implemented a checking mechanism in order to prevent abusive registrations. However, if a valid order is unintentionally affected, please contact our support team to solve the issue. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Well, thought I would use it to try out Moniker.
12 hours later the domain is still pending registration.
I also woke up to a request for a form to fill out and id to be submitted so i can use paypal/credit card.
Moniker can keep their offer, because I have better things to do than jump through hoops I don’t have to do elsewhere.
Fair enough, the issue is one of trust.
They have clearly stated they don’t trust their customers, which would include me.
I on the other hand don’t trust e-mail attachments (possibility of viruses), a restriction to a payment option I am not covered by and a request for id no other similar service provider has seen fit to request (identity theft)
But appreciate the offer which prompted me to try them out and feel like I stepped into something that reminds me of numerous phishing attempts I have had to deal with over the past decade or two.
The fact the domain, a free registration, is still pending after 12 hours in a market that can be incredibly time sensitive…
Moniker is officially on my never touch with a 10 foot barge pole and I haven’t even gotten past the gate.

On second thought, “free” is not bad. 🙂
