Jack says
That’s not in one day.
They stopped reporting their numbers months ago so 422,133 is the cumulative number for several months.
.club also stopped reporting their numbers for months and they are down 4537 today (cumulative too).
KINGOF.TOP says
Not a ‘1 day add’, correct.
Kevin says
Wow! That is AMAZING!
Some of the gTLD’s definitely have a great $$$ future ahead!
Jack says
Not at all !
J.R says
A great future as toilet paper…
KINGOF.TOP says
Nooonsense.
KINGOF.TOP says
Yes.
Jack says
.webcam lost 5,288 in one day.
J.R says
Doomsday for gTLDs is coming very soon…this time next year a few of these (.wastes) will fold. It will be interesting to see if the gTLD bubble pops at the same time as the Chinese CHIP bubble…
…stay tuned.
KINGOF.TOP says
Trough the eyes of an independent domainer I say .top will blowww all TLD’s awayyy.
Equal if it is .com / .net / .org / or any other .xyz
Why?
It’s selfexplaining:
.top = top.
Jack says
LOL KingOf.smoke !
.top will crash like .party / .webcam / .science… and the list goes on and on.
KINGOF.TOP says
I don’t smoke, Jack.
Nothing.
But it looks like you do – because you don’t realize what’s going on according to .top.
.top will show the world (wide web) how to create new space.
Remember, China* is huge and growing.
And I am sure your smartphone comes from there.
.top is universal in it’s meaning, everybody knows that.
.top will grow, grows, growww
Stop smoking.
Jack says
I have no idea what this guy is taking but i want the same thing !!!
From there, we can see pink elephants in his eyes.
Please stop flooding domain blogs and forums with your .top Junk extension
It will go down in flames like all the .whatevers
.top will .flop .flop .flop
KINGOF.TOP says
I have an idea what you are taking and that’s why I don’t want the same thing!!!
Stop talking nonsense (‘taking’, ‘we’, ‘pink elephants’).
Please stop flooding domain blogs and forums with your .top panic.
It will go to top like no other TLD.
.top will be top.
Jack says
KingOf.Smoke is a funny troll.
He will cry like a baby when all those penny .top drop in 2017.
KINGOF.TOP says
Jacksays,
I know you love the word ‘troll’, use it if it helps you.
But it will not help your fight against .top
frank meester says
get stuffed Jack
cmac says
top of what? i don’t see why anyone would want that in a url. only works with certain phrases like
tothe.top
or..
i can’t think if anything else..
KINGOF.TOP says
top of whatever!
It simply works like a ‘label’ – so it can used with every word, brandable, digit etc.
‘top’ is used nearly worldwide as a synonyme for ‘best’.
cmac says
Well I can’t say I ever say something is the top.. I say it is the best..
KINGOF.TOP says
In Europe, if someone thinks ‘This is the best!’ then he will use ‘…best’ to describe it – but if he thinks ‘This is better than the best!’ then he will say ‘This is top!’.
Acro says
.Top is the most abused gTLD, according to SpamHaus: http://domaingang.com/domain-news/spamhaus-is-xyz-the-most-abused-new-gtld/
KINGOF.TOP says
It’s ‘sad’ but it’s a daily report and I am sure it will change.
J.R says
What are the chances that this Kingof.top troll bought every last one of those 422K .Top wipes on the penny deal? The gTLDs will have a massive shakeout in 2017; and a few of the registries will fold, while some will consolidate. However, there might be some up for .web…but the rest of this .crap was bought up in 2015 by domainers greedy for flips, but the cold water of time has awaken them from their trance.
Can you here that?..drop, drop, and finally fold…
KINGOF.TOP says
Also if you call me a ‘troll’ and make weird theoretical questions it won’t help – .top will be on top.
Jack says
Kingof.Smoke
One day, you’ll grow up and you will be an adult too !
When that day comes, you will eventually leave fantasy land and you will laugh to all the crap you’ve said on blogs and forums.
KINGOF.TOP says
Jacksays,
the chance that you will buy some .top domains from me in future is high – no, it’s top.
frank meester says
King ,dont get sucked in by these ”know all expert ”domainers ..time will tell
KINGOF.TOP says
No, noo ; )
Yes, time will tell.
Andrea Paladini says
That’s TOP junk speculation … lol 😀
KINGOF.TOP says
I can understand all those anti .top reactions – all who are talking against .top are most likely .com domainers which live in ‘fear’ of .top now (means it becomes harder to sell .com domains).
J.R says
bubble.top
…coming soon Q1 2017.
Joseph Peterson says
“Top” may be an English word, but .TOP is really aimed at China. To a native English speaker it looks quite awkward, but we’re not the target audience.
Practically every nTLD has taken advantage of Chinese domainers’ speculative buying habits. That includes many English keyword nTLDs that were originally conceived for Western markets. They pivoted to cash in, and why not? Make hay while the sun shines!
But that’s not true of .TOP. This extension was always meant principally for China. Keep in mind, it’s operated by the Jiangsu Bangning Group in Nanjing.
If we view .TOP with English-reading eyes, its appeal and its success will seem very bizarre. Better to view it as something alien or foreign. “Top” is a Chinese word – originally an English loan word, yes, but English no longer.
KINGOF.TOP says
And here is how one of Germany’s biggest registrar describes* the TLD .top on it’s page:
https://hosting.1und1.de/top-domain
It’s the same way how I understand ‘top’ – just in an economy way and that’s definitely how it is meant.
*If you can’t speak german, you can use Google’s translator for example:

@ THE DOMAINS Moderators
Please delete THIS ‘comment’ and also my above one (because I made a similar, but more detailed one below.
Thank you and sry for the confusion.
John says
And what does it mean to them?
Joseph Peterson says
I think it means basically what it means to us – being on top, being the best. But that literal meaning has much bigger cultural resonance in China. The meaning MEANS more.
Also, they don’t give a fig about English word order. So putting “Top” at the end probably feels viable from a Chinese perspective. If you grow up speaking Chinese, then you think through a different grammar.
Having an AUSPICIOUS domain name is considered very very important – based on everything I’ve heard and seen. Lucky “8”s, of course. Also take a look at the various nTLDs that are performing well in the Chinese market. There’s a discernible pattern among these:
.TOP
.WANG (“king”)
.VIP
.WIN
All of those express the same basic idea. Branding-wise, it’s almost as if attaching a word saying you’re the best … will MAKE you the best. Add .TOP to be on top. Call yourself .WANG to be the king. Use .WIN and you’ll be destined to win. Use a bunch of lucky “8”s, and you’ll prosper.
This may sound superstitious. Chinese businessmen perhaps don’t literally believe a TLD will magically guarantee their own success. But that notion of auspicious symbols having an effect on the future must be very deeply woven into Chinese culture. As a result, people in China will feel these associations very strongly.
.COM being regarded as the top TLD, the same notion applies. In the West, people often say, “.COM is King”. And that idea has translated to China not because of any literal meaning in .COM but because the concept itself finds a ready analogue in Chinese culture.
Honestly, I can understand this notion from a distance, in the abstract; but I can’t actually FEEL it. Branding is a topic I obsess over all day long. But centuries of Western literature, English grammar, and established naming conventions are really in my way; so I’d never be able to confidently say what a brand name MEANS in China. Literal translations don’t explain the connotations.
Someone who is culturally European or American, won’t be impressed by adding a superlative or lucky term to the name. Nothing in our heritage or life experience resonates.
In a name like BestBuy, we’re not in awe of the idea that they’re the best. What we mainly find appealing is the alliteration; and the idea actually expresses discount shopping – the opposite of what .TOP or .WANG or .VIP or .WIN suggest to a Chinese audience. BestBuy isn’t auspicious, impressive, a good omen; it’s just conveniently cheap. That’s the message. But, as near as I can tell, Chinese branding puts a premium on these simple symbols of excellence.
We human beings do a lot of strange things. People wear gold jewelry and diamonds for no rational reason. It’s not superstition. It’s convention. It’s fashion. Ultimately it makes no sense, but it’s real.

Interesting, thanks for such a thoughtful reply.

Joseph Peterson says
OK.
@Baz,
Is “OK” too long?
Baz says
Why are all your comments such lengthy efforts?
Reader-comments are supposed to be exactly that – comments – not long-winded essays which are many times longer than the originating article.
I suggest you look up the word brevity.
Joseph Peterson says
Those with nothing to say … whine.
If you don’t want to read, don’t.
John says
Nonsense, Baz.
KINGOF.TOP says
@Joseph Peterson
Brilliant.
I define ‘adding the ‘.top’ TLD to the word (domain name)’ is like ‘pimpin’ it (the word) ‘to the maximum’ (I don’t know any other TLD which could be more ‘ultimate’).
So it’s nothing other than a ‘virtual gilding’.
And like gilding, it will work worldwide (through the history people of all cultures love shining things).
For example, that’s how one of Germanys biggest registrars describs / offers .top on their page:
https://hosting.1und1.de/top-domain
Because the(ir) description is, logically, in german language, I translated it with Google’s translator – so everyone who is interested can find the translation just with one click here:
goo.gl/nbU8y3
@Baz
SPOILER It’s a long description!
But, if a text has substance (like J. P.’s), the length doesn’t play any role.
KINGOF.TOP says
@ THEmoderator/s
If it is possible, please be so kind and add

Well said JP !!

Okay, I’m going to be honest here. I don’t find this TLD particularly appealing. And I just decided to check a few and guess what I found?
I could reg .top for $1.
So that goes a long way toward explaining why there might be a huge 1 day jump. Reminiscent of .XYZ anyone?…
Paul McMenamy says
Chanel uses it! The application of .top is unlimited and can be used very effectively in many business campaigns e.g. AccountancyJobs.top (one of my own).
.com will continue in popularity but “never say never” when it comes to anything staying in place for ever (think about the Fortune 100 in 1980 – how many of them are still around?).
Let’s all stay open-minded to at least some of the extensions being equally successful over time.
Surya says
The issues of China great wall are still behind this I think. Last year there is a rumour that only .top, .win, .wang are accepted in China from all gtlds, then there is an issue that .xyz would gain the same access. There is also a rumour that China Government has registered all city and district in China, all the names in Pinyin in .top, .wang, and .win. I guess the most registrants are the Chinese people.
Surya says
This is one example story about Chinese government bought 20 k pinyin domains, and all government entities has do the same too as I heard. So from all tlds allowed, all cities and districts names has been not available now. Some that has been grabbed by investors might be golds. http://domainincite.com/16151-tld-registry-sells-20k-idn-gtld-names-to-chinese-gov
