I gave SportsAuthority lots of business over the years. Tennis rackets, shoes, soccer balls, baseball bats and gloves, and more.
Sorry to see it hit the fire sale zone.
I guess Amazon.com took down another. Have to admit — it’s pretty hard to compete against Amazon on price, delivery and selection. The Company does an outstanding job with its customer service.

SportsAuthority inadequately staffed the self-service sneaker inventory. That place used to get torn up. The fitting room attendant was always buried under piles of clothes. Huge store, no restroom. Bought a few sets of Rollerblades and hockey sticks there.

The main domain is worthless. Traffic is high because of past advertising and a high page-rank (for now, this will likely plummet in time).
Also, who wants to launch a brand using the same name as a now-bankrupt 2nd tier sporting goods store? No thanks.
Mark it a zero.

I am sure a lot of online sporting goods companies would love to get the traffic from the old site.
There is a reputation at least, I mean people will probably be trying to figure out what happened for years to come.
Really no one understands that today news does not really travel at all. Good luck informing consumers their sports store closed. Most likely yeah, they will use amazon till they want to try on a pair of rollerblades in person. That is another thing amazon really kills, people go to stores just to see if they can get it cheaper than amazon etc.
So yeah some work needs to be done to make a really good sports site, the field is open as they shall say.

I use to shop at Sports Authority in Orlando, Florida. They 2 stores with 1 just down the road from the Florida Mall. I am in awe that this company is going under.
