The .Me registry announced today that for the 1st time, the number of .Me domain registrations passed 1 Million domains.
.Me is the country code or ccTLD for Montenegro.
According to the Ministry for the Information Society and Telecommunications, the total number of registered domains amounted to 1,014,867, representing a whopping 28.36% annual growth in 2015.
For the country Montenegro it’s a special that they passed 1 million domain registrations, of in the year in which the country is celebrating 10 years of independence.

The extension worked well for me.
Launched many apps with the extension and had a nice exit. And a few crashes. (which is about right for startups: a couple failures, and a winner or 2)
Sold premium .me domains (between 2008-early 2015) to many end users (mostly seed funded or Series A funded startups in Silicon Valley and Europe)
Pretty sure the GTLDs cut into market share of the .me extension, as an alternative to .com.
The people who run the .ME registry are hardworking and very professional. This is a big deal in Montenego, and they seem focused on long term success as opposed to short-term gains. (At least I believe)
Congrats to the .ME team/registry for reaching the Million!
