According to a press release out tonight, the megachurch known as LifeChurch.tv has changed its domain name to a new gTLD; Life.Church
The church, based in Edmond, made the announcement in a news release today saying the change is in anticipation of the ministry’s 20th anniversary in 2016.
“Over the past two decades, the church has had three other names including Life Covenant Church, Life Church, and LifeChurch.tv.
The change to Life.Church brings both a new name and a new website address to the church according to the church’s news release stated.”
Bobby Gruenewald, the Life.Church pastor-leader said in a press release:
“We believe the transition to Life.Church creates the opportunity to share and talk about the church in a natural way. Plus, it’s a more effective way for people to find and identify us as a church, too.
“When we chose LifeChurch.tv about 10 years ago, there were limited options for churches claiming a space online. Along with thousands of other churches, we are excited to take advantage of the new .church domain as way to share our mission with the world. We think it’s the perfect time to embrace a new name as we enter into our 20th year of ministry in 2016,”
The church has 24 locations in Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Florida, New York, Kansas, and New Mexico. According to the news release, the multi-site church draws more than 70,000 people to its 24 churches each weekend.
Also breaking, we have found out that a person of the Jewish persuasion owns the domain name Mega.Church.
Joseph Peterson says
.TV to .CHURCH is clearly an upgrade in this case.
A church might be limited by .TV if they offer more than TV viewing, but a Church won’t be constrained by .CHURCH.
LifeChurch.com and LifeChurch.org would also have been upgrades compared to the .TV.
But LifeChurch.org is in use already by a different Life Church. Perhaps a third Life Church will eventually come along and claim LifeChurch.com.

“a person of the Jewish persuasion owns the domain name Mega.church”
Now if that’s not a sign of the end times, I don’t know what is.

This shows that the new gtlds will lead to a lot of rebranding activities.

Agreed. Good for serious website owners, bad for domainers

bobby gruenewald is an awesome guy.
he actually applied for the .church gTLD in the beginning but ultimately lost out to donuts.
bobby is also the original founder of youversion.com (they eventually acquired bible.com) … they are also ahead of the curve with the upcoming .bible extension.. press release below
A New Way to Share
God’s Word: free.bible
For years now, bible.com/app has been the best place to direct people who wanted to experience the Bible for themselves. And while bible.com/app will always be available, today we’re pleased to announce another simple option: free.bible. You read that right. free.bible is a web page, one of the very first to use the all-new top-level domain recently announced by YouVersion partner American Bible Society: .bible. Just as “.com” is for commercial business, “.edu” is for educational institutions, and “.gov” is for government agencies, “.bible” is dedicated to becoming a trusted online source for all things Bible.
free.bible is simple to use and simple to remember. Anytime you meet someone curious about the Bible, just tell them about free.bible. No matter what device they use to visit, free.bible will direct them to where they can most easily install the Bible App.

Make sense. We switched from “StealsAndDeals.com” to “StealsAnd.Deals” a year ago when “.deals” became available. We decided to save our customers typing of 3 characters “com”
Dave says
Man there is no sense at all. StelasAndDeal.com is much better, now you have “StealsAnd” as domain name with .deals extension. Doesn’t look right, doesn’t sound right.
Tony C says
What? You stated “StealsAnd”. It’s not StealsAnd it’s “StealsAnd.Deals” Yes, the “.Deals” is clearly part of the domain and Brand.
What does “com” stand for? Commercial! Commercial is not the image we wish to project to our customers.
What does “deals” stand for? Deals! Deals IS exactly the image we are looking to project to our customers.
Zumo Naranja says
But you don’t appear to have switched. stealsand.deals simply redirects to stealsanddeals.com (which shows in the browser bar) and your About Us page also states that:
“Steals And Deals”, at http://www.StealsAndDeals.com, has been bringing the public great discounts and savings since January 1998.
Tony C says
Yes “StealsAnd.Deals” redirects to the original “StealsAndDeals.com”. “StealsAndDeals.com” has been active in the search engines since February 1998 (almost 18 years). We do not want to ruin our product index pages in the search engines by changing the Root Domain and it’s links. There are many other websites out there that own older websites but do not change the root domain. ie: “GlensFallsArea.com” acquired the simpler domain “GlensFalls.com” but It still points to “GlensFallsArea.com”.
