.NYC updated it’s list of domain names it will be releasing from the collision list next week.
The collision domains will be release on 8 October 2015, these domains are being offered on a first come first served basis at normal registration fees with no premium renewal fees.
There will be no auctions other than possibly at the registrar level for these domain name.
The applicable names will be released in random order beginning at 3:00pm EDT and will be completed by 5:00pm EDT or sooner.
Someone who had placed a large list of domain names let me know yesterday that these domain that were on the list last week and that they made application for have been removed from the .NYC collision list.
So if you have your eye on any of these domain names you were going to try to pick up in the .NYC collision list drop sorry to tell you these will not be available.
If you look through the list you would have thought most of these would have been reserved by the registry so they probably won’t come as any great shock they will not be made available
To be clear, they maybe other domain names that were on the collision list that won’t be available either as this is just a reflection of one applicants attempted registrations.
Also remember the nexus rules still apply to ownership of .NYC domains and private registrations are not allowed.
Remember that in addition to the nexus requirements the Trademark Claims Process also applies.
Here is the official word:
“”Unfortunately, some of the .NYC collision domain names you have pre-registered are no longer on the new list sent September 30, 2015. As a result, any pre-registered .NYC collision domain name no longer available, will be purged from your account in the next 24 hours.

Makes sense. Looks like a list of names that would be reserved for potential use by the City itself. Too bad they were not scrubbed out before the list was released. I am sure there are quite a few others like them, and there may also be premium names removed that have been slated for auction.

Ken is right. The names were always on the City’s reserved list. Unfortunately, I originally sent out the wrong list to registrars. Luckily we noticed the error very quickly and replaced it with the final list, which you can find here: http://www.ownit.nyc/files/2015-1008-nyc-names-release-ga.txt. So sorry for the inconvenience. #OnlyHuman!
