Rick Schwartz, the Domain King, has sold the domain name 899.com for $801,000 which becomes the 3rd largest reported domain name sale of 2015. (DnJournal. com is the official keeper of all reported domain name sales)
Earlier this year Rick sold the domain name Porno.com for $8,888,888 which is the highest reported domain sale of 2015.
The 2nd highest reported domain sale is PX.com which was sold by MediaOptions to ReviMedia for $1 million just last week.
Before the PX.com sale the 2nd highest sale of 2015 was my sale, MostWantedDomains.com of 345.com for $800,000.
Rick told Thedomains.com that he would have sold the domain many weeks ago but “I am such a prick. I held out for $801,000 for weeks and weeks so that I could be number two. LOL” (Yes that is a true statement).
Of course the PX.com sale occurred in those few weeks so Rick will have to settle for number 1 and 3 on the 2015 high domain reported sales report.
Rick had some very interesting comments on the future value of NNN.com domains names which he owns another 12:
“”Anyone that thinks nnn.com domains are going down in value because of the economy in China or a bubble may need to think again.
“As someone who has watched the market for these easy to promote and easy to remember domain names go from registration fees of $70-$100 and very slowly climb to these levels over a nearly 20 year period is exactly opposite of a bubble as some might claim.”
“When I wanted $50,000 it was too much. ”
“When I wanted $100,000 it was too much. ”
“When I wanted $500,000 it was too much. ”
Well now the levels are beginning to meet my expectations and I still don’t see anything but an upward trend. ”
Rick’s 12 NNN.com can be seen at 399.com and yes he is planning on raising all the prices in the near future.

Well done Rick. The king of domains strikes again!

Fantastic sale. It’s great to see the equilibrium price of domains getting to levels that they should have been all along.
While many domainers need to accept decent offers for cash-flow purposes, it would be awesome to see a concerted effort by sellers to take a much harder stand and ‘raise the bar’ – every time a buyer comes along. Within a year or two median prices would be 2-4 times higher than they are now, because word would get around that domain names are a ‘legitimate asset class’ for investors.

Rick is lucky with the figure 8. He is truly worthy of emulation.

The King continues to expand his realm, while enjoying his “retirement”. Before the year concludes, I expect the King to put another big number up on the Board — capturing 3 of the top 5 spots for the year 2015!

Some say, it’s lonely at the top but this year ain’t over yet. Great nnn.com in his portfolio.
His ‘blog’ was (and still is) educational, his sales … inspirational!

345.com is now listed for sale at DomainNameSales.com. Accepting offers. I imagine it’s still there from before the 2015 sale?
John says
Same goes for 88888888.com although Owen Frager just reported it as sold by Frank Schilling and the whois is now for China and support@goldenname.com.

I understand porno.com — makes perfect sense.
But 899.com?
Come on. Something’s up. That doesn’t even come close to making sense. Someone’s moving money around. 😉
