Domain Movers is a series where we highlight newly registered, purchased and domain names that are simply moving for one reason or another, mainly all by large companies. These are often early discoveries.
Lets get going with today’s list of domain name movers:
Google Inc. registered several new domain names, starting off with GoogleChromeStick.com (Google has Chromecast which is a “stick”) Homero also points out the Asus Chromebit, which is a new Chrome Stick coming out soon, GoogleDeepMind.net, GoogleJacquard.com, GoogleProjectJancquard.com, GoogleProjectSoli.com, GoogleSidewalk.com, GoogleSidewalkLabs.com, and GoogleSoli.com. They also secured two .career gTLD domains in Google.Career and Gmail.Career. They also registered Grucn.com
I had reported earlier on all the “Sidewalk Labs and .inc” domains registered prior by Google.
Google has also acquired the domain name GYOB.com from a Brian O’Kane according to whois records. The domain has been registered since 2003 and was registered at GoDaddy. The domain went into privacy protection on June 4, 2015 and by June 11, 2015 displayed Google Inc. as the buyers. Google acquired GYBO.com for Get Your Business Online in 2012, so they may be a typo cover or something new?
AppFolio has acquired the domain name ApartmentManager.com from a Adrian Briones of El Paso, Texas. who has owned it for at least the past couple of years according to whois records and the domain was under privacy prior to that. The domain name has been registered since April 17, 2000. BuyDomains owns the .net and I’m a little surprised AppFolio didn’t pick that one up as well, since it’s priced at only $688.
FightingSecondChance.com has been registered by Pfizer Inc. adding to its domain name portfolio of over 6,000+ domains.
Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. (MGM.com) registered the domain name GangstaGrub.com
Amazon Technologies registered several new domain names that all relate to each other and those include: AmazonTreasureTruck.com .net, .org, .info, AmazonTreasureTrucks.com, Amazon-Treasure-Truck.com and Amazon-Treasure-Trucks.com.
TreasureTruckApp.com, TreasureTruckApps.com, TreasureTruckItems.com, WhatsOnTheTreasureTruck.com, WhatsOnTehTreasureTruckToday.com and WhatsOnTreasureTruck.com.
Notice something missing? The exact match domain right… well TreasureTruck.com was owned by HugeDomains.com and the domain name went into privacy protection on June 13, 2014 almost exactly a year ago. Was Amazon the buyers and simply wanted to keep it under wraps? Your guess is as good as mine, but it is likely that Amazon owns the domain. TreasureTruck.net .org and .info were all registered using the generic whois data DnStination Inc. on April 24, 2015 and Amazon is a MarkMonitor client.
Currently, TreasureTruck.com only resolves to a standard NameBright (registrar of HugeDomains) landing page, so may be Amazon forgot about it and why it’s not redirecting currently? You can learn more about the Amazon Treasure Truck, but if you live in Seattle, then it may interest you more than everybody else as it’s only available in Seattle currently.
Amazon put a teaser video on YouTube on June 24, 2015 and on June 23, 2015 several tech sites like cNet and GeekWire did stories on the mysterious truck seen in downtown Seattle. On Monday June 22, 2015 @sudsyMaggie tweeted a photo of the Treasure Truck on 4th Ave in Seattle. Amazon also created the @TreasureTruck Twitter handle.
Thermo Fisher Scientific registered the domain name LifeScienceSelect.com adding to its domain name portfolio of over 1,400 domain names.
Zappos IP, Inc. registered the domain names TealMap.com / .net adding to its domain name portfolio of over 1,700+ domain names.
Roll Global / The Wonderful Company registered the domain name WonderfulWellness.net but currently do not own WonderfulWellness.com, which is an eNom owned domain name (IMO) and is listed for sale on Afternic with a $1,299 BIN. This is an addition to early reported domains of WonderfulClinic.com, WonderfulHealthClinic.com, WonderfulHealthAndWellness.com and WonderfulMedicine.com that they registered.
Roll Global has also revealed that they have acquired the domain name Wonderfull.com, which appears to have taken place about October 8, 2014 according to whois records. That is a typo to Wonderful.com, which they now use as a main domain name.
Time Inc. has registered the domain name LifeSpecials.com
Capita plc registered the domain name SignalCorporate.com adding to its domain name portfolio of nearly 2,000 domain names.
Bayer AG has acquired the domain name TheColdTruth.com. The domain was registered on March 8, 2015 by a Matthew Klein at GoDaddy. The domain was owned in the past by DomainAssetHoldings.com (DomainMarket.com) but let expire in December 2014. The domain had a $900 BIN that remains at Sedo. As I reported here, Bayer registered the domain name TheColdTruthIs.com on May 29, 2015.
Frito-Lay North America, Inc. (Pepsi) has acquired the domain name PopWorks.com, a domain that has been registered since May 20, 1998 and was owned by “whois watchdog” according to whois records. The domain was listed for sale on Sedo.
RomanceClub.com which was owned by a “Dave Darchangelo” who is a CSC Corporate Domains client and has been listed for sale at Afternic since January 1, 2011 may have sold the domain as it has transferred to GoDaddy under privacy protection.
Yes To, Inc. has acquired the domain name TheWipes.com with the help of Brand Shelter / Key-Systems. According to whois records, it appears the domain expired at GoDaddy and was likely acquired by expired domain auction. The domain had an expire date of 8/21/2014 and by November 9, 2014 Key-Systems shows up in whois. There is potential that the domain simply sold, but there is also the potential it expired and was auctioned. It was one of the two!
NetNames.com has sold the domain name C9.com according to whois records to a Yong Wang of Beijing China. The email address in whois for C9.com was listed as “nnacquisitions@netnames.com”. It is not clear if C9.com was owned by NetNames directly or by a client.
Several trademarked names were registered at GoDaddy under whois privacy and those include: Apple-Login-Security.com, Apple-SSL.com, Invites-LinkedIn.com, connections-linkedin.com, Specialgroups-linkedIn.com and Static-AllBeauty.com
HugeDomains.com has sold the domain name NetworkLogin.com to a Jesse Cavett. The domain had a listing price of $1,995.
GoDaddy has sold the domain name Brrr.com which I had listed in my GoMarch series on DotWeekly (I didn’t get credit for it, but it has been removed from Godaddy and the name servers have changed) but it had a $10,699 BIN with a $6,954 min offer. Other domains that have been sold are CareU.com who was acquired by CareGiverAsia.com. EscapeNet.com, GayMecs.com, MortgageTrade.com by FNC Inc. and the domain had a $5,399 BIN. PostDocs.com acquired by uJobs.com.
General Mills has registered the domain names BackToSchoolHeroes.com and HerosDelarEntree.com
Visa International Service Association has registered 3 new domain names and those include VisaCyberFusion.com, VisaDesignStudio.com and VisaGolfAccess.com
Caterpillar Inc. has registered the domain name KnowYourFleet.com adding to its domain name portfolio of about 1,900 domain names. The domain was registered before but recently expired.
KCI Licensing, Inc. used DropCatch.com to secure the domain name MakeBetter.com on the drop on February 23, 2015 and started redirecting the domain name to Acelity.com on March 16, 2015. KCI uses brand protection service MarkMonitor. The expired auction for MakeBetter.com ended for $1,000.
To note, the domain was for sale in 2012 on Fabulous.com for $1,399 when it was owned by Protopixel Pty Ltd and the domain changed ownership around November 5, 2012 according to whois records to Himanshu Pokhariya. The domain then reached expire date on December 6, 2014, went PendingDelete on February 17, 2015 and was grabbed when it dropped on February 23, 2015.
Directv, LLC has sold the domain name Whoosh.com to a Whoosh Inc. who is a Tech Hygiene provider that offers a screen cleaner product. The domain has been registered since May 29, 1998. The company was using the domain name WhooshScreenShine.com / WhooshInc.com, so clearly a huge domain upgrade for the company and one I’m sure they are very proud of! It is not an easy task to acquire a domain name from a large company like Directv! Whoosh Inc. was founded in 2012 and is based out of Toronto Canada. I did an interview with Whoosh Inc.’s founder about how they acquired the domain and you can read that by clicking that link.

one of the LLL.com schedule for auction at NameJet was bought from Day Scott of Digimedia. I was surprised with this since he rarely sells domains specially a domain that is them placed for auction which will probably reach wholesale values, and not end-user values for which I guess Scott would have sold in the first place.
