Domain Movers is a series where Jamie Zoch monitors domain names on the move that are being registered, acquired or simply moving mostly all by large corporations.
These domain names can lead to being used for new products, advertising campaigns, services, brands and much more. These are often very early detections and can lead into the first time something is seen publicly relating to it. Here we go with the latest domain movers:
Apple Inc. registered 4 new domain names and those include: OSXElcapitan.com (the name of its latest operating system, IOS Version 9), SwiftOpenSource.com / .org (Swift is a programming language and was announced open source at WWDC) and wwwAppleNews.com. Ziff Davis, Inc. currently owns AppleNews.com.
WhiteWave Services, Inc. registered the domain name HappyTheCow.com
Roll Global / The Wonderful Company has very likely acquired the domain name Wonderful.net to go along with Wonderful.com which it acquired last year for a rebrand. Wonderful.net has went into generic whois via SafeNames and is using the same DNS as Wonderful.com is. The domain currently doesn’t resolve.
B Tremblay of PreDigital.com was the owner of Wonderful.net with the domain being registered at GoDaddy.com prior and was using SedoParking at the time of registrant change. I did reach out to them but they didn’t wish to share any details.
To note, the domain was sold via a Flippa auction which ended for $1,552 on January 23, 2014 and was owned by Luc Biggs around that time. A Corey Pavesich appears to be the winner of that auction. B Tremblay shows up in whois on July 10, 2014. So 4 owners on the domain in the past year, with the end user now owning it.
Also to note, Roll Global used MarkMonitor to acquire Wonderful.com, so a different service was used to secure the .net.
Universal Music Operations Ltd has registered the domain name HigherThanHere.com adding to its domain portfolio of over 1,400+ domain names.
Intel Corporation acquired Kno, Inc. after investing $20 Million into the company in 2011 and then acquired them in November 2013. KNO.com has recently switched to the intel.com domain name servers with the domain name resolving to the same website that was on the domain prior. They offer eTextbooks.
Hasbro, Inc. registered the domain names JoinBlazingTeam.com and MastersOfYoKwonDo.com . A US trademark was filed for “Blazing Team Masters Of Yo Kwon Do” on December 8, 2014.
The domain name BlazingTeam.com was registered by a “Cyan” of China on September 2, 2014 with the email address of “ename@marksnap.com”. YoKwonDo.com was registered on February 9, 2015 by somebody in China with an itfly.com email address.
Hasbro also registered the domain name MIPClub.com, like for its MIP robot?
Showtime Networks registered the domain names ForKeepShow.com and ForKeepSho.com as well as FourKeepShow.com and FourKeepSho.com
InnovationLifeCycle.com has been acquired with the help of Brand Certified for a currently unknown MarkMonitor client with whois data currently using the generic DnStination Inc.

Thomas Nelson, Inc. registered the domain name WeCanNotBeSilent.com. The domain was registered before but expired in September 2014.
MarkMonitor listed a couple domain names, what appear to be client domain names for sale, with a contact page on each domain name. CyberLending.com and EatHappy.com . Whois shows Wayne Lazarus with a slclaw.com email address on both domains. The email address is also associated with the domain name Motel.com.
Big Heart Pet Brands acquired the domain name IrresistibleMoments.com from a Suzanna Bierwirth according to whois records, who registered the domain on March 26, 2015. The domain was registered before in 2011 when it expired. It remained unregistered until earlier this year. Interesting to note, Big Heart Pet Brands joined the J.M. Smucker Company on March 23, 2015
Fluid-Wireless.com and FluidWireless.net have been registered by a currently unknown CSC Corporate Domains client. FluidWireless.com is owned by E-Promote and is currently using DomainNameSales.com with that domain and has it listed for sale.
American Express registered some new domain names and those include: AmericanExpressOpenTierOne.com / .net, AmericanExpressTierOne.com / .net and OpenTierOne.com /.net. IMO, this is a great example of how to “cover your bases” with the right domains to own relating to a product or service.
Dick’s Sporting Goods registered the domain names RewardsOfSport.com and TheRewardsOfSport.com. They also registered ScorecardAccount.com and ScorecardPreferred.com (rewards program?) adding to its domain name portfolio of about 300 domains, which includes Dicks.com!
Google Inc. has secured the domain name ContentID.com from AudioMicro Inc. in some fashion. Google launched Content ID for YouTube in 2007 and has paid out over $1 Billion dollars to music right owners since. Ryan Born of AudioMicro acquired the domain name in 2012 according to whois records. Sedo reported the domain name ContentID.com being acquired in November 2012 for $4,000 USD. I have reached out to Ryan to get some more information to see if Google bought the domain name, used legal means etc. on this several times via email and phone but he never replied.
Disney Enterprises, Inc. has registered the domain names DisneyDreamUp.com | .net | .org | .us. deviantART owns the domain name DreamUp.com
TomTom International BV registered several “Billy Goat” domain names. BillyTheGoat.net | .org | .info (they do not own the .com) then they registered BaaadAss.com |.net | .org | .info BaaadAssBill.com |.net | .org | .info and BaaadAssBilly.com |.net | .org | .info
Engine Yard, Inc. has acquired the domain name Deis.com, a domain name that was using SedoParking at the time of registrant change. The domain has been registered since October 1998. They also acquired Deis.net for $1,500 which was owned by BuyDomains and has been registered since March 2004. I tried hard to find the .com purchase price as it would have been nice to compare them, but I couldn’t find one at the time.
Telebrands Corp which acquired the domain name FlashCord.com from HugeDomains in July 2013, has allowed the domain to hit expire date.
Grey Global Group (Grey.com) has allowed the domain name LocalMarketing.com to hit expire date at Network Solutions. The domain has been registered since June 9, 1998. They still have over 30 days to renew it, as it may have been on oversight.
Virgin Enterprises Limited registered the domain name PiecesOfAmerica.com. The domain was registered before and expired on March 18, 2015.
NNNN.com has been sold by Vertical Axis according to whois records. The term is very popular with-in the domain name industry and relates to “4 number domains” or Number, Number, Number, Number. The domain has been transferred to eName.com but whois didn’t show the registrant at the time I looked.
Societe des Produits Nestle S.A. has registered the domain name BeyondTheCheckerboard.com adding to its domain name portfolio of over 5,500+ domain names.

Regarding contentid.com, a Google search reveals AdRev started using the domain around 2013 to offer YouTube monetization for Indie artists. Unless of course Ryan did not only own contentids.com but also owns adrev. Could that be the case here?

LLLL.com was a big deal a while too. Alas, still not resolving.
The most expensive LLLL sale? No, not porn.com, but fund.com sold in March 2008 for whooping $9,999,950.00 USD.
Compare it with the best NNNN sale: 0060.com sold about year ago in March 2014 for $120,848.00 USD.
