The new gTLD program was supposed to in part index the domain name by verticals, interests and geographical areas.
They jury is still out on whether a photographer named John Smith would be better off with John Smith.Photography or JohnSmith.com or JohnSmithPhotographer.com
However when it comes to some extensions like .sucks where the selling point is the expression of free speech it gets a little more complicated.
Consider someone who hates the once a year holiday of Easter.
So if you have a huge issue with Easter you can register Easter.sucks for just a one time cost of $7,500 and a annual renewal fee of almost $3K a year (see below).
On the other hand you can just register EasterSucks.com for $8 a year (at the time of publication) and express all those bad feelings toward Easter (see below)
Bottom line; free expression, free speech, can be expressed on something other than a .sucks domain.
You can be on a .com, .net .org .guru, .grip, or any of hundreds of new gTLD’s or ccTLD’s and still express you feelings about a company, organization or event including Easter.
All new Registries need to pay attention to what are other natural domains are available for pennies on the dollars or they will look as silly as the Easter.Sucks bunny

Or Easter.gripe ($42) or easter.wtf ($23)…
.sucks just .sucks
Mark Williams says
Hello Michael,
One would surely choose the .com instead of .sucks
Who would spend high for just that extension

Have grown to dislike these new tlds but they have helped dot com shine even further and show how dot com is and always will be king
Heard a good joke
How do you make a small fortune with new tld domain names
You start with a very large fortune first
and I think that is the truth lol

If Jared Nyaberi had completely free speech, I guess he could write “Michael Berkins is a …” (insert whatever string).
However: Few people are willing to risk going to exercise such an extreme sense of freedom.

*going to jail
Jared Nyaberi says
Thanks Norbert Mayer-Wittmann for pointing out the Free Speech aspect in regard to .sucks. Our First Amendment Free Speech Protections are part of what makes our Good Ol USA, a great Country. And by the way, Michael Berkens is a genius.
Norbert Mayer-Wittmann says
Nice! (and I certainly don’t disagree — note that it seems like an angel on my shoulder whispered a *fictional* name into my ear as I typed out my comment above 😉 )

You’d think that no other country in the world has freedom of speech t the way that the Americans f&cking goon about it. I guess it’s no surprise we don’t hear about Freedom of Information in America. Because you know, the government tramples on that every day. Greatest country eva! Yay! Murica!

Easter.Sucks is a very very bad example on Easter Holiday.
I tell you what really sucks:
TTIP.sucks (.com available)
goldmansachs.sucks (goldmansachssucks.com ist n/a) – one of a many companies which really sucks
dotorg.sucks (dotorgsucks.com n/a)
dotnet.sucks (dotnetsucks.com n/a)
badexample.sucks too (.com available)
There are a lot more in this world which sucks.
