Welcome to the latest round of domain name movers. The domain movers series digs to find domain names recently acquired, registered and moving for one reason or another by large companies around the web! These are often early indicators into new brands, services, acquisitions of other companies and much more.

Here we go:

BL.com has just been sold at Sedo! Finlead AG were the sellers and they actually recently acquired the domain about 5/3/2014 when the domain went into whois privacy at eNom. It came out of privacy on 7/30/2014 to show Finlead AG. The buyers of BL.com are currently unknown simply because the domain just sold!

Finlead AG also purchased the domain name BJ.com for $325K in 2012 and have sold that domain as well. It appears they sold BJ.com about 4/29/2014 and acquired BL.com after that.

Panera, LLC the bread company, has registered the domain name MotherBread.net. They have owned the .com and .org for sometime with the domains resolving to an “under construction” page. This may indicate that they are going to do something with the term “mother bread”?

WiMP Music AS which is a music streaming service has acquired the domain name Tidal.com. Tidal.com was owned by a William Shier of the UK until 2/8/2015 when the domain went into privacy protection at GoDaddy. The domain was in use as an IT consulting service.

According to Wikipedia, Aspiro AB, which owns the brands WiMP Music and TIDAL was acquired on January 30, 2015 by Project Panther Bidco Ltd, which is indirectly owned by S. Carter Enterprises, LLC. S. Carter Enterprises LLC. is controlled by Jay-Z who’s name is Shawn Corey Carter. The transaction totaled about $56 Million.

I heard that Jay-Z launched a music streaming service called Tidal, but that is how it went down domain wise and company acquisitions wise after I dug into it a little bit. Lets hope that William is a new found Millionaire with his domain sale!

Covidien LP has registered the domain names EverybodysBiz.com and EverybodysBis.com . Covidien was acquired by Medtronic in June 2014 for $42.9 Billion.

CelebrityWorld.com appears to have been listed for sale by Zynga? The domain name was owned by Pluckysoft Inc. in early 2009 and then transferred ownership to game maker Zynga at GoDaddy on 10/7/2009. By 3/25/2010 the domain name went into privacy at GoDaddy and then transferred to brand protection domain registrar MarkMonitor on 4/9/2010 under the generic whois DNStination, Inc. Whois remained this way until 2/25/2015 when the domain name transferred back to GoDaddy under privacy protection. The domain resolved to various game pages for Zynga from 2010 until at least late 2014.

CelebrityWorld.com now redirects to a GoDaddy Auctions listing page with a Make Offer option, with a minimum $20,000 bid amount. Based on this information, I would expect Zynga to be the one selling the domain name CelebrityWorld.com at GoDaddy Auctions, likely with the help of MarkMonitor.

DreamWorks Animation, which has owned the domain name DreamWorksKids.com since 2003 and hasn’t done anything with it since, appears to be getting ready to do something with it as they have set domain name servers to Amazon hosting. The domain doesn’t resolve yet at time of posting, but likely will with a new site sometime soon.

Morris Publishing Group has registered the domain name ForeverVets.com. Morris owns about 4,600 domain names in total.

PLR IP Holdings, LLC. owners of the Polaroid brand have registered the domain name PolaroidCube2.com . The Polaroid Cube is a small lifestyle action camera that retails for about $100. Based on the “2” registration, it would appear they are reading a launch of another version?

SLEEPYHEAD MANUFACTURING PTY LTD registered the domain name SleepSelector.com . Sleepyhead is an Australian mattress manufacturer.

TATA Global Beverages GB owners of the Eight O’Clock coffee brand have registered the domain names WholeLottaBeans.com and EightOclockWholeLottaBeans.com

Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. (Marvell Technology Group) has registered a slew of domain names and the majority relate to FinalCache.com. Final-Level-Cache.com, FinalLevelCache.com, Marvell-FLC.com, MarvellFLC.com . They registered the .org domains with each .com as well. Marvell is a fabless semiconductor company.

CandyCode.com has been acquired from DomainMarket.com with the help of Marksmen Inc. and CSC Corporate Domains for a currently unknown client. Marksmen showed up in whois records on 2/11/2015 and by July 9, 2015 the domain transferred to CSC using generic whois data. The owners may be revealed shortly as the domain name servers have changed to a hosting provider which normally indicates that the site will go live in some fashion shortly.

CBS Broadcasting Inc. has registered the domain name EatUpAmerica.com

Facebook Inc. has registered the domain names FacebookBoost.net (.com is not owned by FB as it was registered 5/30/2013 and the .org is also not owned by FB as that was registerd 8/25/2014). They also registered the domain names FacebookBoostLocal.com .net and FacebookBoostRegional.com and .net. Facebook announced these at its recent developer conference.

PepsiCo, Inc has registered the domain name BeaDayBreaker.com

The Coca-Cola Company has registered the domain name FantaMasters.com

Amazon Technologies, Inc. has registered several new domains, FreeTimePark.com, AmazonFreeTimePark.com, AmazonHappinessGuarantee.com and AmazonsHappinessGuarantee.com

Crocs Inc. registered the domain name ClassicClog.com (adjusted, as I posted the plural and not the singular)

FightHound.com has been registered by a currently unknown MarkMonitor client.

AbbVie Inc. (Abbott) has registered the domain name RestroomCard.com

T. Rowe Price Associates Inc. has acquired the domain name StarBanks.com according to whois records. The domain name was listed for sale at Sedo.com and was owned by Signature Alliance Corp prior to going into whois privacy at GoDaddy on 3/19/2015. The domain came out of privacy on 3/27/2015 when the domain transferred to MarkMonitor and displaying T. Rowe Price as the new owners.

TastyBrandsk12.com have made a domain name upgrade purchase and have acquired the EMD domain TastyBrands.com from MarkMonitor client Optimo Creative. The domain name was listed for sale using DomainNameSales.com
