Google Inc. has acquired the 2 letter .com domain name YT.com. The domain came out of Privacy Protection at Dynadot on 3/30/2015 and transferred into MarkMonitor revealing Google as the buyers.
Based on what I can tell and whois history records, the transaction likely took place on 1/29/2015 when the domains registrant data changed from Cyber Trading Co. at Tucows and transferred to Dynadot under privacy.
Was the domain name YT.com acquired for YouTube.com? That is what I am thinking it was for but clearly this could be for something else. FB.com was purchased by Facebook.com for a reported $8.5 million.
The purchase price is currently unknown for YT.com and the domain name currently doesn’t resolve.

The age of ( .COM URL Centric Marketing ) is catching on very quiclky. We have been talking about this Creative Concept for years. Google on the QT has stepped up its acquisition of .COM Business Platforms under the radar and now Jamie Zoch over at (TheDomains.com , is on top of this Emerging Marketing Strategy Trend ). Googles buying .COM Profit Centers on the QT and backing away from New gTLD auctions. Follow the money JAS 3/31/15

Hi Jamie,
Wayback Machine shows screenshots from Dec 30, 1996 to Dec 12, 2014, and they refer to a Japanese company called 株式会社サイバー・トレーディング (Kabushiki Kaisha Cyber Trading), so the domain name had been owned by the same company throughout these years until this sale. The company now resides on the domain name o.am. According to its About page, it also owns y7.com, y7.net, y7.com, y7.org, y.am, v.am, and e.am. Funny that their website still looks very 90s. You can look at their English pages for more information.
