The auction for ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com ended last night on Flippafor USD $85,000 – a mere 9 days after the site was launched on January 12th.
Today there is a press release out on it already
“ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com, a mere 9 days after the site was launched on January 12th.
The site managed to secure over $20,000 in sales and 2.5 million visits in its first 24 hours of operation after it was launched by 22 year-old Australian entrepreneur and web developer, Mathew Carpenter.
The site was so successful, in fact, that Carpenter became overwhelmed with the sheer number of transactions, and was forced to temporarily removed the ability for customers to place further orders. Soon after, Carpenter announced on Twitter that he was putting ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com up for auction on the website marketplace, Flippa.com.
“The auction received hundreds of thousands of views, hundreds of comments, and 345 bids before finally being sold for $85,000,” said Flippa’s General Manager Nick Kenn.
The winning bidder, Peter Boychuk, an online entrepreneur who has been part of the Flippa community for the last 12 months said, “I’m extremely excited to be the new owner of ShipYourEnemiesGlitter.com. There’s huge opportunity for growth with this business and I certainly plan on taking advantage of the attention it has received.”
Boychuk plans on immediately reactivating the order form on the site and fulfilling the 10,000 pending orders that Mathew Carpenter has collected, saying, “I hope everyone is ready to make it rain glitter.”
Mathew Carpenter is thrilled with the final sale price.
Carpenter said, “If you would have told me 22 days ago when I registered the domain name that someone would later purchase it for $85,000 on Flippa, I wouldn’t have believed you…I’ll definitely be back to sell my next project, so stay tuned…”
