Here is a a press release that is just out that caught my eye
“Googles.com (Not Affiliated with Google) in a continuing effort to redesign its existing children’s website is seeking equity partners/content providers to help develop and/or fund the re-launch of its children’s website.
The googles.com domain name was registered before Google.com and the opportunity to develop the children’s website utilizing the domain name Googles.com is permitted pursuant to a settlement agreement with Google.
The settlement agreement also puts certain restrictions on Google and the use of the GOOGLE trademark related to its ability to provide various types of services to children.
So, in an effort to achieve a greater children’s audience, Googles.com is seeking equity partners/content providers for this important market.

They are probably just hoping that Google buys them out. They have a domain and are looking for partners with money and content to do all the work? Lol

I agree with Robb here. Other than having a name similar to Google, what’s the point?

Setting aside whatever the registrant’s intentions may be, there’s significant value in having such a recognizable name.
Imagine if they had a live business and received enough publicity for the average person to be aware of Googles.com! All it would take is one appearance on The Daily Show for their site to enter pop culture as a running joke at Google’s expense. Then every time someone “Googled” something, they’d be reminded of Googles.com. Millions of “Did you know …” conversations would be happening all the time all over the country – wrong, worldwide.
Even people with only a passing interest in whatever Googles.com sells would visit the site to be “ironic”. At least, hipsters of my generation (and younger) would do so in a heartbeat. We love cracks in the veneer.
If they sold “Googles” T-shirts, people would buy them as attention-getters and conversation-starters. Hell, I’d buy a “Googles” T-shirt if they sold something incongruous or had an off-kilter logo.
Google is insane not to have procured this domain. They don’t need it for the sake of traffic. But their brand can be turned into the leadup to someone else’s joke! Microsoft employees might end up wearing Googles.com T-shirts all around Seattle, thereby converting a youth generation to Bing by the most indirect of means.
That’s true whether Googles.com has disingenuous motives or simply wants to sell a bunch of toys and T-shirts.
Hey, Googles.com! You want ideas on becoming trendy? Talk to me. I’ll get you noticed. Seriously.
