TLD Registry Ltd, who operates two of the most successful new gTLD’s, had two big announcements today.
They announced their first ever China GM and the opening of their office in the “China’s Silicon Valley”
TLD announced the appointment of the company’s first ever China General Manager. Mr. Jin Wang has joined the TLD Registry team, contributing a wealth of knowledge and expertise of the internet and domain name industries in China.
“Our eight month search for the perfect China GM has been resolved with the best possible outcome,” said Arto Isokoski, CEO of TLD Registry. “Jin Wang’s proficiency in both international business and technology is a perfect fit for further elevating our successful business in China.”
Wang formally began his duties on Sunday 12th October, the first day of the 51st ICANN Meeting in Los Angeles, California.
Wang displays a modest demeanor, but it’s overshadowed by a lofty resume, inclusive of an impressive education and meaningful experience serving in multiple executive positions in the international business, technology, and domain name sectors.
Wang received his bachelor’s degree in International Business at the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, graduating with first class honors, in the top 10 percentile. Wang’s time at BUCT was distinguished with many awards for academic performance and student leadership. During his undergraduate studies, Wang was selected as an exchange student to join an international business program at Lappeenranta University of Technology in Finland. After graduation, Wang traveled to Europe and earned a postgraduate MSc management degree from the prestigious Imperial College, London.
Prior to joining TLD Registry, Wang served as the Business Operations Officer for the China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) in Beijing, a consulting associate for IBM, and a consulting associate for the International Trademark Association (INTA).
Wang will be overseeing and managing all business operations for China, including registrar, media, government, and all other stakeholder relations.””TLD registry Ltd. also announced that it opened its new China headquarters in Beijing’s Zhongguancun, also known as “China’s Silicon Valley”.
“Home to an overwhelming majority of domestic and international tech and internet industry leaders, Zhongguancun is a thriving high tech district and the perfect base for our China region operations.
“Our opening ceremony was attended by VIPs including the Embassy of Finland‘s Minister Commercial, Mr Mikko Puustinen, the Service Delivery Center of the State Council Office for Public Sector Reform‘s Counsellor Mr Yu Yang, and the China Network Information Center‘s Deputy Director for Registrar Administration and International Business, Ms Chen Ting. Also honoring us with their presence were representatives from many of our China registrar partners, and China’s media.
Following speeches by Mr Yu, Ms Chen, Mr Puustinen, our CEO Arto Isokoski and our new China General Manager Mr Jin Wang, all guests enjoyed a Champagne toast and a banquet.”
The TLD Registry will be represented at TRAFFIC and I recommend if you heading to the conference you should take the time to chat with the TLD Registry team about investing in “Chinese” domain names.
