I picked up a .BIO and 24 hours later it still hasn’t been added…see a few domains that have been registered but still on “Server Hold”…never had a domain take longer than a couple of hours, this is not exactly encouraging

Same thing happened to us, it seems they review the registrations and if they are worth anything then suddenly it becomes reserved. I think all you’re going to get is scraps while the big fish with money will get the reserved names or premium ones.
Joke!

The response was that the name was on a list and is going to be reviewed for TRADEMARK issues (generic word, full eligibility to use) or if the registry wants to place it on a reserved list (after allowing it to be registered)…they apparently had no idea about ICANNs Domain Collisions and how ICANN is reviewing the potential issue and how best to deal with it…
sigh
Michael Berkens says
Server hold may indicate a ICANN collision name, in which case you should own the domain but not be able to use it

One I saw on Server Hold now resolves so it really feels like Starting Dot may just not be comparable with others, hell, this is their second extension and the first was restricted (.archi) so may just be a matter of waiting for them to manually work their way through registrations to get them entered rather than it all being automated.
Time will tell, but it does make it hard to be interested in any others, especially with new extensions dropping weekly.
