The .Club registry got some love from the South Florida Business Journal today.
“The Fort Lauderdale-based domain .club is leading a pack of newly established alternatives to the familiar .com, .net and .org.
Users have registered more than 96,000 .club websites, outranking all but two of 361 new “top-level” domains launched this year to create more URL choices, according to domain-tracking website nTLDStats.
“A lot of entrepreneurs can’t get brandable .coms, but they can get a brandable new domain name extension like .club,” .club CEO Colin Campbell said.
The .club websites sell through hosts such as GoDaddy, fetching anywhere from $15 to $20,000.
Five-figure sales include Eat.club, English.club, Chinese.club and Toys.club.
Rapper 50 Cent registered 50inda.club, a play on his 2003 single “In Da Club.”
New domains .xyz and .berlin are outperforming .club, which hasn’t given away any URLs for free. Close behind .club are .guru, .wang and .photography.
The company has 15 employees in Fort Lauderdale and is looking to hire five more by the end of the year.
Campbell said he hopes to grow to about 35 employees and 1 million registered .club URLs by the end of 2015.””

Yes – lots a LOVE in the air with .CLUB.
My first hand experience is Europeans LOVE ???CLUB.com’s as well.
This non.com is a winner – and probably will have one of the highest renewal rates as well.
Whether they are ever used – who cares.

The article points out both XYZ and Berlin aren’t truly #1 and #2 respectively. They played a game of numbers using freebies. Cumulative stats of gTLDs is the wrong approach to gauge success or failure, but even so, .CLUB is clearly #1.

.club is a great extention. Glad it’s getting some recognition.
