I got a message from Godaddy today in response to my story of a few days ago, that they were charging a non-refundable $160 application Landrush fee for the Radix new gTLD which start with .Press, .Website, .Host.
Godaddy wrote me today and said that the $160 landrush fee was in fact refundable in the event the applicant didn’t wind up getting the domain.
I asked the Godaddy Representative if this was a change in policy based on my post and they told me despite what their site showed in the past, including the day I wrote about it (screenshot attached to that story as well) there was no change of policy and the landrush fee of $160 was always refundable.
Godaddy has now updated their website to clearly show that a full refund of all fees including the $160 landrush fee will be refunded if you don’t get the domain name.
So there you go, we are back to a risk free landrush for .press, .host and .website.
