The three letter domain name WOI.com has been reported stolen.
The domain name was at Godaddy until just a few days ago registered to a Bernard Naiborhu of Jakarta, when it moved over to the domain name registrar, eName Technology Co.,Ltd. of China
WOI.com is now registered to:
Admin Name: linyu Admin Organization: xia men yi ming wang luo you xian gong si Admin Street: zhen zhu wan ruan jian yuan
Nice whois record.
We sold the domain name last year through Afternic.com and the domain was transferred to Godaddy after the sale.
The domain was registered at Hexonet before the sale.
The domain name is not currently resolving.
If you get an offer to buy this domain please send it over to me so I can relay it to the buyer/owner of the domain name.
Domain Observer says
So, is Godaddy trying to recover the domain for the real owner? Or nobody knows? An individual whose domain has been stolen can easily be in a helpless position. In light of ever increasing incidences of domain thefts, the need for a uniform procedure/organization for recovering stolen domains is getting stronger. It might even become a profitable business.
GoDaddy says
We’re looking into the transfer and we have also contacted the new registrar to get the domain name back. When events like this happen, we do everything in our power to restore the rightful ownership.

I received the same notice about WOI, from a Mohan Krishnan, referencing the recent theft of Lightly .com. Since they had a 6 line privacy disclaimer at the bottom of the email, I asked for permission to share, to which I received no response.
Looks like GoDaddy is screwing up by not allowing for two way authentication outside of the US.

Has a technical authority covered how this happens today? Maybe at one of the Con’s DEFCON, BlackHat etc?
Sounds like social engineering if none of the current authentication methods worked?
We all remember the sex.com story (purely social) which through lack of any safeguards at the time the transfer was simply granted by word of mouth.
I hope to answer my own questions. Will report later.

That’s kind of you – and very obliging! – to report about it here, though the sale you made in low five figures closed year ago.

so, the domain which Godaddy was doing everything in its power to recover still is in the chinese hands.
