To say that the term Iron Dome is in the news everyday would be an understatement, more like in the news every hour.
Iron Dome of course is the the Israeli built defense system that knocks out incoming missiles out of they sky before they hit their target.
As a domain name, IronDome.com was registered back in 2004 by McLeod Capital Corp. of Calgary, Canada.
The defense system was launched by Israel in 2011.
After being a register.com placeholder for years, on Feb 2, 2011 the name was parked as seen below:
March of this year, the name changed hands to a Steven Yu and Iron Dome, LLC out of Gaithersburg, Maryland.
Mr. Yu seems to have another company RozMed, LLC that is in a patent dispute with Chinook Licensing. Chinook has been going after everyone in protection of their patent 7,047,482.
From Law360:
Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 4:10 PM ET) — Facebook Inc., Hulu LLC and LinkedIn Corp. were among the companies targeted in a flurry of lawsuits filed Monday in Delaware federal court by Chinook Licensing DE LLC, which has accused the Internet giants of flouting its patent covering the augmentation of online directories.
Chinook also filed complaints against Internet dating company Zoosk Inc. and online tool developer Project River Inc., with each suit claiming that the companies have commercialized methods that performs all the steps of its online directory patent.
So Mr Yu formed Iron Dome LLC, and it does play off what the real Iron Dome does, which is intercept something, only in this case it will be intercepting patent disputes.
I would imagine the name is getting a lot of traffic looking for something else.
