Last few rounds of high premiums have killed off domainer interest, and reality checks are starting to set in.
The end users of these domains don’t want to pay crazy renewals on the most part, the public is sending a clear message.
Companies think they have pure gold here, when all they have is a long climb up a mountain with no guarantee of ever finding gold.

In terms of number of purchases, I wonder how much sales have been affected by the fact Donuts has offered it DPML blocker so that end users feel they will be protected in a lot of the desirable ngtld’s.
Certainly as an end-user myself the DPML block seems an attractive option to having register and administrate a lot of defensive trademark registrations. We may have to go for a handful of non-donuts gtld’s but it certainly means that although we’ve spent money because of the new landscape it hasn’t been on direct domain purchases.
Have Donuts released any figures on DPML purchases?
