The new top-level domain (TLD) .wiki has Landrush today.

The Landrush phase is a brief 2 week period when the you can register a .wiki domain on an early access basis.

Of course any domain taking in landrush will not be available during general availability.

The only .Wiki domain names not available during landrush will be those that are banned or reserved by the registry, have been temporarily blocked (collision list) , or were already claimed during the Sunrise period.

“The possibilities for great, available domain names are astounding, and Top Level Design has highlighted a number of broad categories of domain names that it expects will be popular and available for application at landrush. These include nearly every domain name in languages other than English (ley.wiki, musique.wiki); nicknames for cities and locales as well as medium-sized city names and neighborhood names (bigapple.wiki, soho.wiki, florence.wiki, geneva.wiki); specific academic topics or interests (ocean.wiki, archaeology.wiki); references to fan followings (trekkie.wiki); and a wide range of compelling topics (alien.wiki, baking.wiki, algebra.wiki, rainforest.wiki).:

Raymond King, CEO of Top Level Design, corroborates this: “Wiki is certainly one of my passions as it is the best way to collaborate effectively with others from worldwide communities. I know that there are many new names to choose from, but some of the best will be applied for and registered during Landrush. I think great examples that speak to my other personal interests are scuba.wiki, helicopter.wiki, terrier.wiki, econ.wiki, robotics.wiki, and the list goes on.”

Landrush started today, May 8th, at 9:00 UTC and will run until May 22nd at 23:59 UTC. It is available for registrations through a number of registrars, click here
