.Club went live earlier today for general availability and here is the video of the live countdown and launch of the .Club extension.
The video was shot at Godaddy.com where Colin Campbell and Jeff Sass gathered with some key Godaddy staffers
I had a call a short time ago with Colin, Jeff of .Club and Mike McLaughlin of Godaddy.
For .Club its been a long road and they assured me that today is not the end but just the beginning for .Club
“Today is the beginning for .Club not the end”
“A lot of registries work up to launch day really hard and then see what happens, that is not going to be the case with .Club Mr. Sass told TheDomains.com
We are going to have a huge launch event on May 22 in New York City including the announcement of some end users who have selected a .Club address for their site including a very well known celebrity who will be involved with a .Club site”
Colin went on to say that unlike some registries, “.Club only has registered 46 domain names (they were like all registries allotted 100 domains)”
“We did not register any reserved domain names so all the domains you will see in our zone file and in the domain counts for .Club will have been registered by third parties except for those 46 domain names.
Godaddy’s Mike McLaughlin said that .Club was one of the “top launches that we have seen so far and if you want a model on how to bring out a new domain, follow .Club they have been fantastic.”
“They are bringing it out in a way for the market to digest. As a retailer its easy to sell and as a buyer its easy to buy. The registry is putting a lot of money and effort and marketing behind it, as you can see the registry is sitting here at Godadddy’s offices in Arizona as we continue to promote the extension worldwide”
.Club domains are available for $14.99 at Godaddy.com and at most of if not all of your favorite registrars.
