The new gTLD’s .Brussels and .Vaanderen have selected Pool.com for its Sunrise and Landrush Auctions.
“Today two more international geographical domains, .brussels and .vlaanderen, announce they have selected Pool.com and its auction services platform to help accelerate their introduction to global markets.”
“Auctions are the best way to resolve contending applications during the introduction of new top-level domains,” says Pool.com CEO Richard Schreier. “They offer open access, quickly set true market value for web addresses, ensure the name space will draw real users and give the registry the resources to continually invest in technology and services.”
DNS Belgium has been the ccTLD registry for .be since 1999 and knows the value of geographically tailored TLDs. It hopes .brussels will strengthen the visibility of Brussels, the capital city of Belgium and Europe both as a region and as a brand name.
The .vlaanderen domain is designed to create an online space specifically for companies, organizations and individuals in Flanders to showcase Flemish roots and culture.
Pool.com has already made public some of its other global partnerships, including auction services for premium names and contention resolution to .شﺵبﺏكﻙةﺓ (.shabaka, translates to “web” in English) as well as the international geographical domains .wien and .tirol.
