Back in 1967 Pro Football Weekly started as a sports magazine, that covered the National Football League (NFL).
It was owned by Pro Football Weekly LLC and headquartered in Riverwoods, Illinois.
The magazine was published 32 times a year, including every week of the NFL season, and issued four supplementary publications
the Pro Football Weekly Preview, the Fantasy Football Guide, the Draft Preview, and the Pro Prospects Preview.
The magazine closed in 2013 due to years of losses.
Now the domain name ProFootballWeekly.com is in Pending Renewal or Deletion status and is at auction at NameJet.com with a minimum bid of $4,038 as set by the registrar Network Solutions.
Its another case of a expired domain name being sold at an high premium price as set by the registry.
I still don’t understand why an asset such as this is just allowed to be dropped by the previous owner without compensation to the domain owner with the registrar and the auction house pocketing all the money.
According to reports ,the company had assets of $143,000, and liabilities of $8.5 million.
You would think the creditors would take control of the most valuable asset of the company, the domain name, to recoup a fraction of the debts but it looks like another instance of where the creditors lose and the registrar and auction house win.

I hear you Mike!
to be fair, netsol is one of the few that at least has a rule in their ToS stating that a % of the sales proceedings will be given to the previous owner.
but all this system is crap. these guys have been for years making unfair competition to us all. and the trend is increasing. in a few years i suspect we will see them at auction bidding against us and using all this easy money gain during these years.
then our community will try to take action and it will be too late.
