Zynga dropped about 130 names that were either going to be projects that never came top fruition or were just protection names in alt extensions.
Some of the names included:
Hospitalville.info is an interesting one as Zynga has branded many games around Ville, they never owned the .com which is actually expired itself and is on Go Daddy Auctions.
ZyngaCasinoBlitz.info
ZyngaAnimalWorld.info/.net/us
TreasureVille.us/info
ZyngaFrontier.com which was probably went with the game Frontierville.
Zynga is no stranger to registering a lot of names including those that cannot be used as anti-Zynga.
Ce Gamers did a piece in Jan 12 highlighting:
The defensive domain registrations center around Project Z, Castleville, Zynga Bingo, Zynga Casino, Hidden Chronicles, Dream Zoo and Mafia Wars 2.
The domains include typical defensive registrations like Dreamzoosucks.com and wwwzyngabingo.com, but among the list of names are hints of other games for its newly created Zynga Casino franchise such as zyngacraps.com, zyngadice.com, zyngakeno.com, zyngapaigowpoker.com and zyngaroulette.com.
The names also point to which devices and platforms the new games may be available on such as ZyngaBingoGoogleplus and Dreamzooipad.com.
We have taken the games of CastleVille and Hidden Chronicles to show their defensive domain registrations.
It is actually nice to see that they go anti cheat tools but at the same time they look out potential domain names for fan sites. It also shows that Zynga doesn’t want websites that are anti Zynga, dishing their games.

Dear Zynga, Markpincus.com is expired
The CEO of the social gaming giant has had a placeholder Web site for years. Now the registration has expired, and Zynga risks embarrassment–and danger–from losing the domain.
That story is here

Eh, maybe they’ll have a change of heart, and we’ll be hearing about a lot of UDRPs in the future.
It’s impossible to cover all your bases when it comes to defensive registrations, anyway. Zynga registered Dreamzoosucks.com, but someone could simply register DreamzooReallySucks.com or some other similar name. Best to go with names that matter most, and not get overly paranoid about the rest.
Danny Pryor says
Their success relied too much on the success of someone else’s business plan.
They’re dropping names with their own corporate name as part of the domain, and I don’t believe that to be a positive economic indicator for Zynga.
Got to go! Time to pick the strawberries.

the days of defensively registering everything are about to change forever… in a 10,000+ gTLD world it isnt gonna be expected i dont think…

I just saw a recent Sedo sale of file.biz for $1,000.
In other words, I would have to agree with you. 🙂
