Dot Latin LLC, the .UNO Domain Registry, announces today that their 60-Day Sunrise Period starts and runs until February 6, 2014.
The Sunrise Period is when trademark owners are eligible to register a domain name containing their owned mark. In order for Trademark Holders to apply for a domain during Sunrise, they must submit an application and obtain validation approval from ICANN’s Trademark Clearinghouse (http://trademark-clearinghouse.com/).
Sunrise applications will only be accepted through approved .UNO Registrars listed on Dot Latin LLC’s Registry website at http://www.nic.uno.
Domains will not be awarded to applicants until after the Sunrise Period ends. Where more than one application for a domain name is received, Dot Latin LLC will hold a closed auction for those applicants to determine who will be awarded the domain name to register.
Dot Latin LLC has partnered with Sedo.com Inc. who will run the Sunrise auction process.
Dot Latin LLC’s CEO, Shaul Jolles said “The Internet is going to become more targeted and inclusive with the introduction of the first Spanish Top Level Domain. Finally, over 490 million Spanish speakers will have their own identity and a dedicated space on the Web to call their own and it provides others with a mechanism to find them.”
.UNO is a unique new web extension dedicated to Spanish-speaking businesses, consumers and individuals. .UNO also offers English speaking businesses an opportunity to reach and connect with Spanish speaking consumers in support of a multi-cultural Internet.
.UNO is short, memorable, and instantly recognizable. .UNO transcends existing naming barriers that exists today and stands out against all other Latin Web names because it’s broader in scope and meaning than any other available Web identity. Simply put, .UNO brings it all together, in one space, online.

What a load of bullshit! How many times are we going to hear this exact same thing for every new GTLD.

It’s about time! But what about Italian and Portuguese speakers, since “uno” translates to “one” for them as well?

This is really exciting news, since until now there has been absolutely no way to connect with Spanish-speaking consumers! I am starting to change my mind about the incredible value these new gTLDs will offer to the Internet! Yeah! I mean, “¡sí!”

Total and complete Bull Crap!
there are not only hurting themselves but also other the New gTLD coming behind… the ones that might have a chance as small niches (Think about it1)
can you sense the desperation?
Spanish domainers have zero interest in the new gTLDs, in the few countries were DOT COM is not the king their respective C C (Country Code) it is, furthermore most economies are ailing (Spain’s the premum spanish market’ economy still in shambles) , in Argentina domains are free …
Resale vaue for this aberration : ZERO NADA ZILCH
Think on terms of DOT ONE with a 100x negative factor.
